Hi, this is my second thread, i lost the old one.. cant find it.. so here is another thread from me.. i would really appreciate it if you would help me out with some pointers, since i am having a hard time now with shadows.. and you can comment about my works because i would really like to improve my stuff. i will include my rough sketches and the rendered ones for you to look at and see what i need to do.. thanks!

really new at this.. and there, i resized them.. hope this doesnt make your eyes hurt like the big pics. :)

Hey, nice clean stuff in here. I'd suggest maybe doing some experiments with line weight as some of the character designs look a bit too flat. Some of the colour choices are a little jarring, sometimes the colours look a little desaturated and grey in places, making the overall colours look a bit muddy.

Anyways good start to a SB :)

your lines are nice and crisp- which is very good. I agree with rainville here, try playing with the weight of your lines.
as for shadows. STAY AWAY FROM THE BURN TOOL. D: find a tutorial or two on color theory and soak up the knowledge, it'll help out a lot.
as for shadows, get the basic 3d shape of whatever you're shading and keep a light source in mind. what's facing away from the light's darker, etc etc.

nice start with your sketchbook. My fave would be that ink portrait. You did a very nice rendering job with his hair. ;D

thanks for the suggestions a la bapsi and rainville! i appreciate it very much! ya ive been told to stay away from the burn tool. :p will research on good tutorial sites.. :)

hi, here's another batch i made.. let me know what you think coz im open to any kind of criticism, im open to new ideas and i want to know a lot of stuff on how to improve my drawing. thanks!
