As youve already noticed, the front arms of the ballifant are all messed up. I suck at anatomy, hence the strange muscles... I'd be so glad if someone could point me in the right direction somehow... A reference pic, a paintover, whatever! please!

Hmm, picture seems broken or unavailable.

I think the arms actually look pretty good and go well with the style of the piece. If you're looking for a bit more defined musculature, you could check out http://www.fineart.sk for some reference images (although it seems to be down at the moment). Again though, I like the arms as is.

The one thing I noticed about the arms (although I do agree that you should keep them) is that the ligaments connecting to the terres major (i think thats what its called), that muscle that controls your finger movements, are not going to the same spot. Dunno if you know what I mean, you know on the back side of his hands those 3 lines, they look a bit mickey mouse-ish they should technically be all headed for one point on the forearm.

Also u got a teeeeny prollem with the perspective on the tusks. The right one seems togo to the right side of the character, and the left one also goes to the right side. When in fact, the left one should be forshortened like crazy. Same problem with the left ear, it looks a bit stretched.

Another thing about the hind legs. He looks a bit unnatural the way you have them bent like that, as if hes a human pretending to be an elephant or something. Just straighten them out i think. If you wanna keep them bent you can, but lower his ass (for lack of a better term). there should be a nice downward angle from his neck to his tail. (This may also contribute to his uncomfortable looking stance). Yes i know this will mean changing the chair thingy for the person ontop of him a little bit. :p

I don't think the arms are really messed up. What bothers me a bit is they are too straight and even, so they even appear kind of frail at the top. The lighter line which continues the side of the arm on the outside turns inward too soon too much, I think--I'd expect there would be some muscles there, so it would go outwards a bit. Same story on the inside. Another thing is that heavy line on the side of the body past the arm, it makes the body look as if it's made of two pieces, like a wasp or something. That part should look just like the belly--a short disappearing line and a shadow to define volume. Speaking of shadows, seeing how they fall on the creature's head, there should be some serious shadows above that arm and on it. Hope this helps.
