This is an image that I was working on during the summer while I was on unemployment.
The title "Spiral" describes the image visually....but after naming it I realized there was a deeper meaning.
During the time while I was working on this, I had some sort of emotional breakdown.
Something about this perticular creation experience, played into every bit of fear, resentment, self doubt I could dig up toward myself as an artist and human being.
I was very angry and it just kept resonating upon itself...hence the deeper meaning.
My poor friends actually put up with me...thank god for them.
Anyway...i still never finished it to the level i wanted...but who cares...the past is the past.
...time to move on...

I really like it Cherub. Reminds me of an M. C. Escher drawing with the way the lines curve in on themselves. As for the healing power of art, I understand what you mean. My grandmother just died and I can't get home to be with the family for the memorial, so to tide my grief over I'm working on an illustration.
Sincerely,
Chris

Truly an eye-candy piece. I love the way every line just flows across the paper/digital canvas/whatever. Also, I knew there were some pretty interesting emotions behind this, and after reading what you wrote, I really start to see the "Breakdown De la Artiste". It sort of reminds me of a stair case, and your moving from the darker parts up to the lighter parts (is it under water?)
Sorry, I don't know what I'm saying. I really love the piece, very nice job on it.
Do you have a sketchbook? I would love to see more of your work!
