I started drawing a long time ago and it wasn't until recently that I started getting halfway decent. I'd like to start sharing with you guys what I've been doing lately and hopefully will be adding to this daily.
Sincerely,
Chris
Edit: Forget that once a day thing. I'm lucky if I get in weekly updates.

awwww.... c'mon, not even a little criticism? 127 views and STILL no feedback? I know I have to prod most people for even a wishwashy opinion but this is starting to get silly.

I think the reason is that there isnt too much to criticize :) Good going there. I especially like the dog skull studies although one of them seems a bit long. i like the kids and the comic look on some of your drawings.. All I could say was that you need to practice shading a bit more. hmm.. nothing else really. (p.s. could you look at my sketchbook, I´m having the same problem, noone posts.. well, 2 so far but I like comments :) ) thank you.

I think the picture of the hand is really quite nice. Great foreshortening you have there. As everyone knows: hands are tough, foreshortening is tough. To be able to do both is an achievement! Seems and eensy bit off around the wrist, but very very nice on the hand itself nonetheless.
I like the feet on that Indian guy too.
You have some good talent! Keep at it :)

Ok, here's a couple of pages. On the second one there are two inspiration drawings for a band called "When Heroes Fail" that they might even pay me for! On the first however, I have no idea what my hand was doing because it was not connected to my brain at the time.

Okay, really now... it's interesting that I don't remember seeing some of the stuff here in your sketchbook at lunch. Always good to see new/forgotten stuff, though. Now, time for a little C&C tidbit:
The thing that confuses me most in this set is that you did that excellent study of canine skull structure (http://www.rsad.edu/~cjabas/sketchbook/page11.jpg) before, and then in the Anubis drawing (http://www.rsad.edu/~cjabas/sketchbook/page33.jpg) you didn't seem to take said structure into consideration as much. Maybe it was meant as a kind of cartoony style thing, but with the defined muscles and tendons it doesn't set as well that way as it could.

*grunt grunt*
i agree with what evre said about anubis sketch.
Also, I love your muscle studies, the shading and accuracy are great. Plus i absolutely love the 1 minute figure gesture, the top 2 are VERY expressive. I'd say do more of those, you seem to have a strength in that which could be built up very well! Some of your later stuff seems to be pushing the cartoony, which is not at all bad, but I feel that your figures carry a lot of weight and think you are stronger in that area.
Keep up the great work I look foreward to seeing what else you come up with :)

Hey guys.
Thanks for all the comments. I really appreciate it when people tell me what they like and dislike WITHOUT me having to prod them first.
Evre, you're absolutely right. I wasn't even thinking about the anatomy of dogs when I did the anubis drawing and I should have. I wanted to get another crack at that before I updated again, but Josef prodded me to update beforehand. It is on the way though.
Valcon, thanks for the encouragement. I'll piece some more figure studies together on a page or two and post them. To hear someone tell me I'm good at drawing humans lifts my heart greatly.
Legacy, glad to hear you appreciate kindness and return it as well. I'll be checking in with your sketchbook from time to time also.
Anyway, without further ado.... THE UPDATE!!!!!

(In reference to the first picture) "Me Og. Og have big tooth, wear 'round neck."
...anyway. *whacks self*
Interesting cityscape in the seccond page of the upate. One wonders what would happen to the city if one of those aircars were to crash into the tall antenna-thing.
Yay, animal studies! Good ones, too. Crit: the rhino in the top left of the image appears to lack a lower jaw.
The third image; the swordsman's left (our right) leg looks awefully thin in comparison to the other, which matches the body more. His hair's got me a little confused; it's stuck somewhere between stylized anime and realism. The drawing has a good sence of his motion and pose, though.
Nice drawings of the cadavers; they really remind me of the preserved specimens from high school biology disections. The textures and structures all look good. Now if only I wasn't eating limp gummy worms while looking at them...

Update for Feb. 13
Hot diggity! Three updates in one week... I'm on a roll!
A friend of mine suggested that I draw myself as Freud describes a person: the Id (characterized by the phrase "I want"), the Ego (characterized by the phrase "I am"), and the Super Ego (characterized by the phrase "I should"). The Super Ego is actually made up of two parts: the moral codes you have accepted and your guilty conscience. These four are on the bottom of the first page.
The problem is that once my Id had a face, he became much more forceful (that, and he gave me some good ideas). Eventually, I will color their group portrait. The last two pages are character explorations and reference for school projects.

your stuff is coming along. i've noticed improvement from the first post to the last. i'm guessing you're a CA, aren't you? i wish i would have made it up to the gross anatomy when i was there. jones always had the best sketches from that. oh well.
i have one major comment. i only see a few figure drawing sketches and none since your first post. how come there aren't any more. take every advantage you can with figure drawing there. if you don't have a figure drawing class, i know they have FEWS and i know if you really wanted to you could sit in on some figured drawing classes if you asked the instructor. so keep working at that and keep doing studies.
good luck.

Chris,
I've really enjoyed going through your sketchbook. You can see the work you are putting into sketches and drawings. I can see a lot of back and forth from the life drawing and studies and the the attempts to carry over what you've observed there to your more imaginative pieces. Keep at it! You're doing great.

Oregano,
Thanks for the input. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Well folks, I'm out of college and working a job. I just reorganized my web hosting and have updated my links so all my pictures should still work. I've also hyperlinked all the previous drawings to make my thread a little more 56k friendly. Now let's dust off the cover of this thing and bring it back to life!
Here's a couple of pages of gesture drawings I did from that parkour video that was linked over on the first C.H.O.W. Tablet. Maybe three minutes a sketch.

Hey guys. I've been pretty busy over the past few weeks, so I don't have any new sketches for you in this post, but I do have some animation. Go to http://www.neverlockedout.com and on that first page you'll see a couple of instructional animations I did for a product called a HitchSafe (you'll have to scroll down the page to see them). I should have some more stuff later.
