Environments are usually a big problem, but I wanted to give it a try, so here it is!

not much time today. can't color it up sadly. here's my quick sketch of the path to an evil overlord's fortress. (i picture the path in the middle of a boiling sea created by the spouts on the outer walls)

Phuzion: great pic but i think you could crop out the right half of the pic and it would still look good(or even better). But i guess there would be no enviroment then.. thats my two cents.
something like this popped in to my mind when i read the topic...

oDD: I totally hear what you're saying. I don't think I put enough thought into it, just woke and started painting ;p
Damn man, your piece rocks ass. I'm glad to see some skills comin' back into the DSG, I think it helps the aspiring artists. Rock on. Peace

Edit:
I donīt usually do this on a dsg sketch but the foreground and the background
seemed to float together, So I tried to clean it up a bit. Hope it worked.

Beautiful stuff! Very nice everyone. I love those textures, oDD. The kid in the candy store is a cool idea and some unexpected humor. I absolutely love your painting and concept, Plaf. Must be some rough training, that guy looks so old and he's still an apprentice?! And of course everyone's mentioned Phuzion's masterful illustration.
Anyhow.. I don't have much experience with environments and almost chickened out, but practice is good.

I hope you can see the burning huts and the path winding between them... I know at least I got the burning across. :p

Out of all there faults, they chose the one with no brain to lead them.
i have found that by making my pictures funny, i can kind of hide the fact tha..../me remembers new rule..... I am progressing nicly in my artistic ability :D
my favorite so far, is Phuzion... i love everything about the peice, so much emotion and clarity about your views, love it, keep it up, awsome.

Wow... I didn't expect such a response, but I'm glad it drew one. I guess I've been in a "put a message in it" frame of mind recently with everything. Just sick of people stepping on egg shells and stuff... gonna express what I think, and hopefully express it clearly ;p Thanks all. Good work, and good turn out. Peace

as for phuzions sketch, i can only agree. good man!
Velo: thanks! and you can tell his age just from that silhouette? :) anyway, i thought it would be a little more suitable for an apprentice to screw up like that :)
