I've got 8 roughs here, and I'm trying to figure out which three I want to refine and do a color rendering. The perspective is may be a little off on them (WAY off on one of them) because I drew them freehand. When they're refined, I'll be doing the perspective the right way. Try not to judge them based on technique. Some are done in pencil, most are done on wacom (and it took me a couple tries to find a brush I was comfy with for this).

Here they are in no particular order. Post your favorite three below. Whichever ones get the most votes (including mine) by Wednesday afternoon will be refined and shown to recruiters along with the rest of my portfolio. Critiques always welcome, this is my first real stab at drawing ships since high school, and I'm wondering what a collection of professionals such as you guys thinks of them.

I like number 4 best!
(the second is no 1, the 3rd is no 2)

Hm, then you might not be interrested in my opinion at all. Unfortunately I am still very far away from beeing a professional :(

As far as generaly flow I think I like 5 and 8 the best...they're short on detail but seem well weighted...can't quite think of the words I want. Anyways, there's my opinion, for what it's worth. :)

Im in sweden, what is the time, itīs not too late, is it!!! ;)

What kind ships U need 3 of? Theese seems to be different
I like:
1 - as a fast luxury/sport cruiser
2 - as a heavy freighter
5 as an alien 2 seated fighter

I also like 8, if the fuselage was stretched out alot (say three times the lenght it is now?) it could be a fine corvette. :D

Looking forward to update (gimme color too!!!) :D

I'm no proffesional, but here's what I think:):

1) Definately luxury cruiser.

2) Oooo, very nice. Maybe asteroid plough, or if you work out that front a bit more, do something to it, I mean, a space fighter.

3)I don't like it too much (drawing's good, I just don't like the design), but it could be a trans-atmospheric bomber.

4) Maybe a cargo hauler, or light battleship.

5) alien space fighter?

6) Alien space fighter, really pointy, tho. Try and add some more oblique surfaces.

7) Meh, looks sorta like a turret.

8) Cargo hauler.

very nice drawings all! I like your style, just some of the designs I'm not too fond of ;)

Here's the final versions. I ended up not having the time I wanted to finish these.. thus they came out a little less polished than I wanted. Only one (#6 above) got the full refining with proper perspective, and that ended up being the best one in my opinion. But here they are.

Trying to come up with a color scheme for these was tough. I realised after I started in on them that I really needed to know more about them to give them decent color.. like what fleet (if any) they're with. Whose markings they carry. Whether they're new or old. That sort of thing. To top this off, the only one I'd clearly visualised in terms of color before starting was the first of these three. I knew I wanted it to be red. So (to me at least) it looks right in its color and the others don't. With the third one, my impulse was to go green, but it looked too much like a grasshopper to me. Oh well. Learning, I am. Any thoughts? They're always welcome.
