Here's the context of my question to you:

My "Inspirations" folder is getting bigger and bigger. It's becoming harder and harder to browse through it...plus viewing on screen is not the best...so I had this idea: I know some websites will print books for you, example: a book of some photos you took, so I told myself why not print in a beautiful book all this images that make me dream?

Not 100% sure of myself, I asked the staff of the website I planned to print the book if it was legal to print copyrighted artwork in such form for my OWN personal viewing pleasure: they said no.

So my question to you is why? just out of curiosity... Is it the act of printing the artwork? I live in Europe btw if it influences the answer.

I think it has something to do with the fact that they would be making a profit from somebody elses work, bind a book yourself! :)

Color Laser Printers are pretty cheap nowadays. I got one but I only use it for contracts, sprites and and paper models.

You can make pictures too. (http://androidarts.com/photo/sprite_art.jpg)

Argeed with J.Boswell. Not only would the print company be making money, you'd technically be shorting the original artists from them selling you the work as prints. It's much like how copy places will refuse to copy studio photography portraits.

Promotheus: I did! the DA print service is quite nice for that.... :D
