Oh wow, I just hope he doesn't screw up like with Tom Yum Goong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom-Yum-Goong) which was seriously bad, even by my standards (I love trash movies).
But if there's a scene in Ong Bak2 which even resembles the chasing-trough-the-streets scene from the first one (only the most amazing scene ever) I'll be happy :)

Please. I don't know if that version is edited different from the American release, but The Protector was a great action movie.

Yup, Tom Yum Goong was a badass action movie.
I expect the plot of his next one will involve someone stealing his stapler from his office desk and he'll go on an epic quest of violent vengeance to recover it, and it will be awesome.

I don't know, it was kinda too long, and the scene where a guy took a baby elephant by the head and threw it out the window kinda burst my bubble about the movie... I kinda thing they overdid it when compared to Ong Bak which is great. Just my opinion though, maybe it has to to with the editing as you mentioned...

There were some great fights in Tom Yum Goong, but it was a bad movie. The elephants were the best actors by far.
Ong Bak 2 looks interesting. Odd though. Tony Jaa has always been talking about promoting true Thai heritage and culture, yet he is doing kung fu in this new movie and using kung fu weapons. I've heard he has had some training in kung fu, but he always seems to be this vehicle for Thai pride. Lokks cool anyway, I'm excited to see this. It will be interesting to see how it differs from his other work. This is a different producer and director.

If you're talking about story, Tom Yum Goong and Ong Bak's plots may not have a whole lot of substance. On the other hand, one could say that the story is really in the fighting itself. This is where a martial arts flick is really supposed to shine. Although, it would be really nice if we could get some deeper story lines into this genre of film. Thats the one thing I've always disliked about it not having.
As for the acting in TYG, from what I remember, most of it was pretty believable. At least in terms of dialog, the emphasis put into what was said and some reactions to injury during the fights. Other results of injury seemed unlikely. Of course, what would a martial arts film be without some unrealism. Kinda boring I imagine.
Tony may be incorporating more than just muay thai and kung fu in this one, as is shown evident by the premise in the promo.
