Can't open photoshop jpeg in Painter X?

I've just run into a strange problem, i'm trying to place/open a file i created in photoshop cs2 in painter X, and it simply does not work. I can open every other photoshop jpeg i've made in painter with no problems, and i can't for the life of me figure out why this file won't. It's not such a big deal, i've already repainted what i needed in painter, but i would like to have some insight as to what's going on so that i can avoid future hangups.

Check to see if it's a CMYK jpeg. Painter won't open it until you convert it to RGB
