the purest definition of art is "visual communication." so what am i communicating? the beauty i see in things? is that it? what else can i communicate? what do i want to tell the world?

these are the questions i've been pursuing the last couple of years. we can show the world anything we want, but what do we end up painting, drawing, writing; etc? as a christian and an artist i regularly underestimate the power my abilities to influence my audiences. as i head to san francisco this fall, my focus for the coming two and a half years will be to guide my abilities in this sort of direction. to communicate more than just "pretty pictures." today's "sketch of the day" represents some of my first steps in that direction.
