[ "Lovecraftian" refers to the author H.P.Lovecraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._P._Lovecraft). ]

[ If you are not familiar with his works, I recommend you acquaint yourself with some. ]

[ This topic is quite open-ended, and I encourage you to avoid the obvious tentacle-faced cthulu-type for something less done-to-death. ]

"While waiting for 'Mugsy' to show up to exchange the booze for cash, Twitch (as we now call him) claims to have seen something strange."

I'm still not a Lovecraftian initiate as far as reading his works, however his reputation and influence I do know quite well from reading the works of Robert E. Howard. I just figured I'd take the 1920's era requirement and have fun with it by adding in the Gangster smoking a cigar waiting to do a deal running into the creature...

I hate the lens flares color circles. I was only trying to get lights in the lamp posts. Oh well. I'm still learning the ins and outs of photoshop. Please critique.

There are other methods than lens flare you can use to get a light effect. You could use color and brush strokes to express the light. Nice work, but I couldn't help but crit that.

I had a hard time scanning mine. No matter what I do it looks extremely washed-out.

The Gates of Hell opened up before him and the demon emerged, within its bowels he could see the living soul of a person being devours. He ran home that night, gave up drinking and became a devout christian. When later asked about the creature he stated that it had a thousand arms, gaping teeth and something about ctlu from which the creature gained its name Chathulu.

I got a little carried away with this one, it maybe be a little bit too much of a spin on the topic

Good works. Got kinda lost before I added the "finishing touches" last night.

Damn it. When Vinnie volunteered to take his zip gun and seek out the bastard who keept nicking the dames working for the family at the lower east side, he had other things in mind. He΄d seen himself as the hero reaping the gratitude of the dames as well as of the Don himself. But what he sees now in the alley made him reconsider and then, dispite his battle hardend shell, he felt his skin beginning to crawl. There stood what looked like his own girl, Bambi. But from beneath her dress something slimey, octopuslike slowly reached out and for the first time since he was ten, Vinny was thinking of running away.

As Rodger walked home,
the Smell of Dead fish, and other omnious dead objects becomes apparent, - As reality Twists, Cracks and Falls apart infront of him,

He decides this might be a good time to take the long way home..

I realize this is probably late but I wanted to post it anyway. I'm trying to get back into drawing after many years and now realize that I need to work harder on it... perfect candidate for the DSG!

criticism would be appreciated.

SteFuunie: This design is similar to my original sketch. (One of my 1st work-ups in my IRL sketchbook.) I think you highlighted why I didn't use it. Specifically, because you can't see the tension in the man's face or body language. I love your creature though and I bet if the angle were different, then your drawing would be even tighter.
