I think that what the people on the forum usually say is that they consider anime less and less of an art form that they like to see. Also, there's no use getting all bent out of shape because no one replies. Patience is a virtue.

Reply to some people's posts, and begin to look around more. Then people will begin to see your work, and start commenting. It goes a long way.

You have some great potential, but anime (I personally don't think) is not the way to go if you are interested in a serious art career. It is rarely seen in portfolio's, anime. It also does not help with drawing realistically, at all. The proportions on a normal anime head, say, are so off its awful. also the bodies are construed so much that it is almost disgusting to try and draw a realistic picture.

I sadly took on to the anime bandwagon a few years ago, and was drawing it for a good 2 years. Sadly, though, it COMPLETELY screwed up my ability to draw realistically at all. I'm still just now breaking out of the barriers of anime, with a lot of hard work. It may be different from you, but my interests were in art. And anime is only enough for a child, or possibly a teenager. Working realistically truly is the way to go.

I can complement saying .. do not generalise it ... you can draw realistical in "japanese style" if you like so (like guys such as Tetsuya ) .. its a matter of how far you wanna take .. style VS proportions ... personaly i like to see Effort in the drawing . i hate see modern art . just stains in white papers ..

and even if i dont like of "out of proportion quick drawing anime stuff" ... its not true that it dont sell or even make "fan's" =| unfortunately

there's alot of really good "anime" out there, and most of it is bordering on other types of comic art, such as blue submarine 6, or akira.

The fact is, I'm not saying that there is not much "good" anime out there, its the fact that if you work for a few years on it, there pretty much won't be much development. Also, as an artist who draws pretty much only anime, one could expect to only recieve jobs from the limited anime field: comics, movies, and SOME games. Of course there are some great reads out there, but you have to have a unique style. Drawing just like the rest of the anime bandwagon people doesn't get you jobs later in life, or make people want to look at your stuff. And like NekoSaga said, its all about the style ;).
Enjoy what you do, but don't expect too much.

Your drawings are really nice, I like specially the first one, he has a nice armor!

About comments, well, you should know that few comments doesn't always mean it's bad, just as many comments doesn't necessarly mean your pic is awesome. So relax about that :D

Well about anime stuff. I disagree that ONLY realism is art O_o actually I think it's a really extreme opnion. I think people consider anime ONLY as Dragon Ball, Pokemon, etc...... But If ppl play video games should know Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 8 and 10 , Parasite Eve, Castlevania and many others, done by japanese artists and they are AMAZING!! Also Anime movies like Ghost in The Shell, Akira, Blue Sub Nš6, Blood The Last Vampire, Cowboy Bebop Movie, etc .They draw more realistcally I must say, but still, it has it's OWN CHARM!!! It's not just a photo reproduction. I think a STYLE is what makes you special. Be able to do realism is important though, coz if you don't know the base how can you "play" with it?
Sorry for the long msg, hope you read and keep it up!

(I'm not "player hating" or anything, but are you Asian, from any Asian countries, or have any Asian in you? If not, please don't use the >_< ^_^ and that stuff, pretty annoying.)

You should start up a sketchbook and just start posting everyhting you do. It really helps to get you to draw everyday, and to also be able ot see your development. Also helps that you can always ask so many people for help on anything. Really great motivation.

It sounds like your on the right track, with working with eyes and such. It really helps. I really do support you, and everyone (I hope) does too. Don't think we not or anything.

Look forward to more from you.

if your goal is to be like feng zhu, you have a long way to go bro.
like a few thousand miles.
on your knuckles.
through broken glass.
with your tongue nailed to the ground.

but if that really is your goal, you have to decide if drawing is just a hobby or is it your passion. cause if its truly your passion, and this is what you want to do, and that really is your goal, then a few hours trying out "realism" aint gonna cut it.
we're talking years of serious studies.
pages and pages and pages of nothing but hands. in all different positions. heads. torsos. feet. noses. eyes.
not only that, but environments.
whats in environments?
chairs, lamps, cd cases, tvs, guitars, amplifires, telephones, candles, speakers, dvds, books, coffe tables, couch, etc...
you have to think about all that shit.
but if thats your goal, so be it. work at it. but dont bullshit us and insult our intellengence by saying that a few hours of trying out "realism" has already helped improve your work.
i wont buy it. post it, and we'll tell you if you've improved. if you have , great. but until then.
out.

ps, if i sound like a dick, its cause my cars engine exploded this morning on the highway at 85 mph. i almost died. so right now i dont really give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

Whoa whoa whoa, sensing some negative vibes here! :)

Anyways, the drawings look good, as far as anime is concerned, nicely improportioned (hands are huge, etc etc). While they're all really good, they don't look "new", I guess is the correct term. They look like the same type of anime I've seens dozens and dozens of times. While it's good, it's not original or "new".
