LAST IMAGES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE!
Hey all
After all the good things I've seen on this site I thought it'd be that time to actually upload some stuff so the masses can critique!
I've started to speedpaint a little bit more seriously about two weeks ago, and since I'm a student, my work is still in early stage of development.
Each of these works are about 1 hour.
In any case, enjoy!
Cheers.

Hey man, nice stuff you got here. You have a really nice sense of colours and mood, and you're off to a great start here at CA. See ya round!

I really like those last 2... The astronaut has a nice mix of tight and looseness. That one before it with the warm to cool transition is very nice. Color and comp wise

These make it seem like you really enjoyed doing them, which I love to see. Nice and loose, and not too hard on the eyes either.
Just keep evolving! I'd like to see some clear human figures from you though, studies of finished pieces, sketches, whatever :p

Love your work, the colors and lighting are astonishing. how do you do that?

photoshop?
Haha
Just mess around with colors; duplicating layers, blending modes. Just mess around a little, keeping it playful, that's the key in my opinion.
Having fun, keeping it simple and fast.

Great start of the thread. Really like those fast paintings, I like the mood and the way you played with the light. As it was said before, it would be nice to see something more finished. Just out of curiosity.

today's speedy; despite a lot of homework pressure I managed to squize this one in. 2.5 hours. I'm personally not too happy with this work, there is something wrong with it but I cant determine what; did try to incorporate more detail and make it a bit more 'finished'
The image with the mountains in the distance was inspired on a work by Caspar David Friedrich, gotta love that painter. I've been working on it for about 4~5 hours now; still a work in progress

at the request of some people here, some people sketches.
I'll see if I can get my hands on my life drawings to digitize them. They are bound to be locked away in some classroom somwhere haha.
And the course I am on is International Game Architecture and Design. It's a game academy for visual artists and programmers; obviously I'm on the visual art side ;) 2nd year. (education is 2 years old)

another blurp of stuff.
The alleyway is done today in approx 1.5 hours; the other one is still an ongoing project, about 8 hours so far... not really sure anymore. When I have some time left I'll see if I can digitise some of my life drawings but since its a whole bunch I'll have to make a selection first.

Hi! Ooooh, you do have a very nice grasp of colours and brushes! The combinations make for some beautiful works!
I have a nitpick about the second-last image: Where is the lighting coming from? It appears to be sharp and strong at the door, but without the haze of light beams that the windows are revealing. Also, in some of the windows the light direction is straight, whereas through the door it appears to be facing both the floor and the wall to our left. Might be a good idea to work out the lightsource as you go! :)
Also, the first image in post #3 is giving me the same confused vibe about the light. It's beautiful, but how come the beam is just narrowly directed? I can't tell where it's coming from!
Otherwise though, overall you use the colours well with the lighting involved! You're really imaginative in your composition as well. I think that's great, and I hope to see more stuff too! Even gestures or the first outlines of ideas (if you do that!) would be cool to see from you!

I'm not exactly sure which image you are referring to here but thank you so much for the advice! I'll try to set up a dummy position for the light next time so I can take it more into account.

another 2 ~ 3 hour speedy.
Less sharp then the rest of my work but I like the sketch / paint feel. Comments and criticism welcome =)

more attention spent on getting the characters the right size within the scene. Couple of hours not completely finished but getting there.
