Hey guys, It's been awhile since my last post, but here's a drawing I've been working on. I've spent some quality time at the VA Musuem looking at busts.

It's all done with a 2H and a HB (for darkest blacks only) pencil. I've been learning a more east european approach to drawing lately, which is really slow, but highly accurate.
What do you all think?

It looks good. Alot better than most students work Ive seen. I think you could push the values a little bit more for a litle more contrast since most of the values are in the mid range, but other than that it loosk good, its pretty challenging drawing something like that on such a big canvas and still be accurate.. how long do you think it took you to do?

actually, not too long. My teacher said that this sort of "classical" approach to drawing is "supposed" to take upward of 24 hours to just get the framework down, but this only took me 8 to 10 hours total to render.
Biiiiigggg difference from western methods of speed drawing. (which I think I might still prefer... not sure yet....)
Anyway, thanks! I appreciate the feedback!

Thats a nice little study. The only thing i'd comment on is that, some of the edges aren't reading right based on the forms. It could be the lighting, but i don't know. That, and the ear is out of perspective with the rest of the head. And 8-10 hours is really not that long of a study. This type of drawing is whats referred to as cast drawing. And most "academic" cast drawings take many many hours. Its a rendering exercise, and the objective is to get it as photo-realistic as possible. And 18 by 24 isn't all that big, so it'd be nice to see what you can do with more time on it.
