This is like my first post here or something. Heeeeeeeeeee :B So, hello CA! I wish I came her much, much sooner. But better late than never. First, to get this shit out of the way, some godawful real-life sketches. Note the somewhat better brain doodles. Can somebody please tell my why my life drawings suck such garganutan balls, because it boggles my poor little mind and makes me very frowny-faced. And I throw out like 90% of them, but whenever I make ~*WHITE BACKGROUNDS*~ I always feel so superlame. Sigh. And then there's some fun stuff with ~*WHITE BACKGROUNDS*~ and a thingy I like to call the "Sonar Salad-Eater".

It is an embarrassment that my least embarrassing items are ~*WHITE BACKGROUND*~ doodly shit of made-up things from my head. Why can't I do life drawings?

So I should probably be asking this in a different forum, but while I'm here, some Q's for the moment.

1. Why do my life drawings suck so bad?
2. How can I make perspective fun?
3. How can I handle things with a lot of straight edges; Man-made objects
4. How can I draw with smeary things like pencil without smearing everything when it's hard to draw well with my wrist lifted off the page?
5. Can I blame the furfags for being a bad influence on me?

I am Au79, hello!

Hey there, totally not stalking you (just remembered I had an account here!). Mind if I kick this thread off?

Your life drawings don't suck, but I think what you're running into (and this is just how it sounds to me) is lack of interest. Which sort of melds into your second question as well. When you're not interested the art can come out lackluster and careless.

I for one was never ever interested in doing manmade structures like houses or rooms, until I ran into an old blueprint book my father had hanging around from the 80's. The drawings were terribly technical and plain, so it made me want to spice them up a bit. Add a few features to the houses which weren't there. Take some features off. Same went for cars or even things as simple as a chair.

And if you really want to get interested in perspective, take a look at some amazing pictures done in three-point. You'll want to make something so bad you'll study like a fiend. h ttp://martinrayala.blogspot.com/2008/04/three-point-perspective.html (just using the picture as an example, the writing accompanied could be debated).

Drawing with smeary things is fun! I think getting dirty is part of the experience 8D But a friend of mine used to always rubber-band a tissue to his wrist when working with pencil or charcoal. The tissue will pick the graphite up and not smudge.

And oh those furfags pffff. The fandom has it's good and bad points, both to be found in the socializing aspect of it (good for those who do, not so good for those who don't as much). There's no need to go cutting off ties entirely, but I think you know enough not to focus on them either. Just do art and forget about the type of people you're aiming for or against. Things will run smoothly that way!

I'M WRITING TO YOU A LOT TODAY so I hope none of this was creepy.

DUDE, AWESOME you're here! And wow, that picture is amazing. See, I think I need more awesome influences in my life. Sometimes, though, they can be kind of hard for me to find. But this place is a good, late start! And dude, you need to stalk me more. I'll stalk you!
