thanks oren90, i'll try to upload more often, i draw but don't upload lol!
and ryan, thanks for the visit man
here's 2 portraits, the first one is a big fat fail ;D and the 2nd one is better IMO
the 3rd upload is a rejected graffitti commission on a wall (which was going to be painted with acrylics since i've never used graffitti in my whole life lol)
btw, if you didn't notice, i suck at graffitti, that's why i added a good looking guy with a gas mask ;D
i promise to upload more often! I'm working on a Millet master copy! =D, i'm really liking the way it's coming out =)
BTW, let's see what effect it has to put "Girls girls girls!" on title lol, let's see if it helps my sb get popular, if not, i'll try with something else
April 20th, 2010, 08:24 PM
hey man looking good, in the second portrait the neck is a bit too thin but overall it looks good :)
April 20th, 2010, 08:36 PM
What you know for sure is how to use color. You seem to control different colours of light very well. I hope that you're thinking about their choice regarding mood you want to achieve. As long as it is concious decision - good for ya! Keep learning!
April 20th, 2010, 11:30 PM
I think your realistic pencil renderings are really good. It seems to me that sometimes you draw the head in manga style and the body more realistic.
Keep up the good work. It's great to see how you progress. Cheers!
April 22nd, 2010, 02:18 PM
If I was you, I would move on to doing some anatomy studies :) For example, the second portrait in the latest update has a very odd neck. Anatomically it doesn't make sense. It doesn't connect the head to the body like it should.
But as I said, some studies and these problems will begin to disappear.
April 25th, 2010, 10:01 PM
woot! 4 visitors! I'm honored =)
oren90: great, thanks for pointing that out, you are right, and FraserMcT came, and said the same, thanks for the crit! hopefully in this new portrait it will have a nice neck =).
artozi: thank you very much! and i don't really think about mood when choosing colors, but that's a big mistake! thanks for the advice, gonna try to think about it before choosing colors :D
Ivan Turcin: Thanks! I'm started drawing manga and just manga, so, i guess i'm pretty influenced :P, but i like doing it like that when it comes to drawing from my mind :D, thanks for the visit!
FraserMcT: Thanks, i should stop being lazy about studies =o... thanks for your comment! you are right! will start doing anatomy studies (i hope)
Here's a portrait of shujin from bakuman
again, practicing painting from mind. Had lots of fun doing it! =)
April 25th, 2010, 11:26 PM
this one looks better :) good job on that
April 26th, 2010, 12:51 AM
hai dude, cool!
do more studys of hair, that last portrait's hair is so fake :) and also the headphones dont really look "real" its like, it completly snapped in the centre of them? idk
other than that it looks pretty cool! just you will get there if you keep at it!
which you will, or else i will come to mexico and murder you ._.
also try doing portraits of other cultures, not just the same american type ones your doing here :)
do photo studys, anatomy and i will love you!
April 30th, 2010, 07:04 PM
oren90: Thank you ;)
r y a n o i r: i already replied to you, but man, i dunno, if it's just me, but don't put a smile when you're saying something bad, it actually makes it look like an insult :O
Hey! I just finished my very first oil painting! :D it's a master copy from Jean François Millet! Oils on panel 16x20''
anyways, here it is, any comments? i actually enjoyed and suffered painting it, oils are quite hard! now I respect traditional artists a lot more!
April 30th, 2010, 07:57 PM
hey that looks really nice! sorry about the smiley faces, they were to meant to be like, less mean? im not sure haha
keep it up bro!
May 4th, 2010, 05:23 PM

May 13th, 2010, 02:26 PM
oren90: thanks man! will do =)
ThomasM: Thank you, and yeah, painting traditionally is quite something, here's a little more sketches, hope you like them =)

May 19th, 2010, 02:16 AM
Nice sketches and paintings - you have a great eye for color from what I can tell, nicely done. That cartoon commission is brilliant btw, great composition and expressions on the figures.
May 19th, 2010, 05:21 AM
digging the commish mate!
love the signature too
May 19th, 2010, 08:48 AM
hey man looking good !
this one http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=976221&stc=1&d=1273775103 makes me want to suggest that you be much more subtle about the jaw line. Really study exactly what's going on with the outline and the overlapping forms. The jaw line is much less harsh than you would think and isn't of an even sharpness all the way . It often almost completely dissapears around the masseter muscle. It's a really important area in portraiture and can create some of the nicest effects of lost and found in some cases.
hope that makes sense :)
Keep it up!
May 21st, 2010, 07:12 PM
cgaddict: Thank you very much =)
r y a n o i r: Thanks! doing good?
monsi:: you have a very good point there, thanks for pointing that out. I mostly draw from mind, and sometimes, i guess you just start drawing the way you want, not the way it is, thanks again =)
Here's the same commission. The commissioner wanted more party and action, what do you think of this 2nd version?
May 22nd, 2010, 01:22 AM
LOVE IT! he asked for it and you did it with perfection
nice work mate! keep it uppp! and dont use all your time for this too! work on moaaaaaaaaaaaar!
May 31st, 2010, 07:27 PM
Hey r y a n o i r thank you, yeah, you're right, but this isn't all, i've been getting commissions and that's all i could work on since my hand hurts when i draw this much on the tablet so i had to take some breaks =)
So, I'm uploading 32 portraits!!!! woot!!!
these are for a junior highschool generation shirt! i guess this is my longest commission evar! worked 40+ hours on this =)
btw, these aren't detailed as you can see, they weren't paying that much, and had too little time for the deadline, i'm good at excuses lol
Sorry for the bunch of signatures, but i was too lazy to remove the signatures (because i put sigs individually in each drawing for the client ;D)
June 1st, 2010, 01:13 PM
So, whatever, I'm gonna upload all of them, so forget the post before this one, I always wanted to upload a bunch of work I've been doing, I'm not gonna miss that chance!
So here it is, 32 portraits =)
C&C most welcome
June 10th, 2010, 09:56 PM
Here's the train car painted =).
The commissioner decided he wanted it to be colored too :D so he asked for it, so he got it, he was really happy :D
I know the guy has got a big fat face but, honestly, didn't see that until now, and i don't really care, i know it's way too big for the perspective, so i can see my error there =o
Any comments? crits?
June 11th, 2010, 02:41 AM
awasome portaits and illustration :)
July 1st, 2010, 08:12 PM
thanks oren90 =)
forgive the dirty pages, but they're next to pencil drawings and get pretty dirty lol, so, i'm trying to take full advantage of the old sketchbook
had funz with this pages
July 2nd, 2010, 08:19 AM
ryanoir wants moar studehs
July 3rd, 2010, 12:17 AM
Wow man, you have been working hard. Much respect. I'm very impressed by the flesh tones on that last painting, they're looking quite nice, the sense of light in general, in fact. I will say, consider using a motion blur on the railroad tracks, or at least see what it looks like. Just mask it off and then use the motion blur tool in PS or whatever you're using.
Also, consider your light source, I wonder if the shadows cast by the people in the windows would be as long as they are. Just a thought.
Beautiful work. I admire your dedication, I have been unable to spend more than like 2 hrs on a single painting this week.
July 4th, 2010, 02:14 PM
Really interesting look with the portraits, man. My favorite thing on this page is the way the colors of the train work together. :D
July 13th, 2010, 09:30 PM
ryanoir: i know ._. will do
sketcheth: Hey! thanks for the visit man :D, ok, will try the motion blur next time, because i did a stupid move, saved the original file in a small resolution and with that distortion ._.
Nah I've been slacking off lately, i'm pretty ashamed, but thank you anyways!
staticpen: Thanks man! glad you like my latest works =)
Just want to upload this painting that i just finished!
Will upload more sketches later :D and yes, some studies soon!
July 13th, 2010, 09:33 PM
didn't bump =o and close ups =P
July 14th, 2010, 08:26 AM
looking nice :)
July 20th, 2010, 03:47 PM
thanks oren90 =)
Bunch of sketches! and a digital sketch of a fantasy knight <3 HEAVILY inspired by kekai http://kekai.blogspot.com/ i know you know him... if not, hurry up to that link!
August 26th, 2010, 06:15 PM
The cartoons are looking real nice, you've definitely got the knack for the them. On the stuff where your going for more realism its clear you need to work on depicting form and understanding the form of the face and so forth. The anatomy studies are coming along nice.
September 1st, 2010, 07:40 PM
hi guys :D, i'm finally updating
Liffey: Thanks for your comment on what i should work on more, i guess i need to start doing photostudies and more model drawings, thank you =)
So, this update is mostly because i finished my entry to a contest at deviantart :D and I'm really happy with the result
of course, first there's a bunch of sketches too.
Here's the story behind the painting:
It's the 1328 After Christ, an explorer, whose name is Diveni travels around the world to discover it. With her travels his friend Isakar, which is there to guard her in her world studies.
One morning they were walking somewhere near a big mountain which caught all the attention of Diveni. Suddenly she tripped, and looked down to see what was getting in her way to discover something amazing. It was some kind of cell made of some kind of metals(solar cell), which was connected to a cable, which had to lead somewhere. That somewhere was inside a big cave. After walking and walking into the cave they started to see more and more cables together, along the cables they saw a cyan light coming from inside the cave... a cyan light inside a cave? With a lot of cables and wires coming from outside? What could there possibly be in?
Ok that’s it, I know I suck at writing but my painting happened to have a story, so I had to write it =P
Thanks for reading
September 6th, 2010, 10:23 AM
Hey DHTenshi. I may have posted here before but anyway, what I was noticing was the overall quality of the characters you are sketching. Lots of personality going in there, I think I even see a bit of anime influence at times. Some of the more real ones look like people I know~!
On you painting, I wanted to see more information and transition from medieval time to the technology. Also I think it is too dark to see the characters you are talking about. I like the story, it made me excited to see the points I was talking about above; given your past sketches. Even some of the comp work you did in the sketch above with the low shot of the warrior was a bulidup to top your last works but the painting feels poorly planned and therefore perhaps unenthusiastically executed. I'd LOVE to look at the sketch of this though! Keep it up!
September 7th, 2010, 07:02 PM
sorry to let you down man, but as you say, this was a very poorly planned painting, which i really spent a lot of time thinking on, between the time of a week. So, I had to finish this piece in 2 days, so there's no real sketch for this painting, but the last 3 sketches in the sketch bunch that i just uploaded they're concepts that lead me to this final idea and painting
November 27th, 2010, 03:48 PM
Hey guys, it's been a long time, gonna start with this sketch which was painted later as a simple airbrush like painting

November 29th, 2010, 09:53 AM

Tried to be dynamic, and of course comic-manga style.

Entry for Megaman Tribute Artbook by the guys of UDON
Didn't get in =(
Anyways, uploaded 6 wips =), killed zero in the middle, didn't want to render him, wouldn' have time for the deadline. Thanks for looking!
Details at DA: http://dhtenshi.deviantart.com/art/Megaman-Tribute-Entry-Closeups-206279122
April 25th, 2011, 02:43 AM
Cool, but I like the idea that there is Zero standing behind the wall :D. Great sketchbook by the way !
May 17th, 2011, 09:14 PM
gunsbins: Yeah, maybe if i had rendered him I would have entered the book! maybe... thanks for your comment! that means a lot coming from an artist like you!
Check out the diference! it's amazing! It's as if Miles_ opened my eyes up to a whole new level! he gave me a great critic for my simple sketch and that pushed me to paint it more (a little more than 1 hour)
so, what do you think?
PD thanks a lot Miles_!
May 17th, 2011, 09:27 PM
your stuff is so wondeful! Love your combination of comicy/anime and painterly style. And wow, the differences between the last two paintings, definitely loving the on on our right.
May 19th, 2011, 08:26 PM
wooden mango: thanks! that's exactly what I want to achieve, a cool mixture of comic and manga, and of course getting better and better at painting. Thanks for leaving a comment =) I appreciate it!
So, here's a test of the "real watercolor" in painter 12 (i love it btw, at least for now), and a simple study of a drawing made by Justin Gerard, using coffee and a brush, pretty fun =).
May 23rd, 2011, 06:33 PM
3 Ink studies :D
made for college, fun fun fun.
I have a lot of stuff to upload from college :D
May 24th, 2011, 09:52 PM
It's the perfect otaku-geek stereotype of my town lol. He loves to watch anime and read manga all day long, as well as playing videogames all day long, oh I said that already right? He plays videogames and watch anime so much, it's as if he had more than 24 hours a day!
I present to you Geeky Ricky (Riki el friki en español).
Very fun to do
All the pins in his geekish schoolbag belong to their respective owners. I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS IN THEM.
I put all the initial sketches before the final illustration
May 24th, 2011, 11:58 PM
Another update! Inspired in my beautiful girlfriend. From mind all the way, no ref used. Man, she does inspire me =P
Thanks Miles (http://miles-johnston.deviantart.com/) for your critics, they really helped me.
I love the way it came out.
May 25th, 2011, 12:50 AM
Haha Miles_ is so helpful.
Here's a quick crits (if you want it!) for the last piece:
The left shoulder (the one in the foreground) looks a little "dislodged" or unnatural to me. Try imagining this as a full body composition, does that shoulder still fit? I think it may have something to do with the clothing too and where that was placed.
I like the warm/cool lighting, there's lots of improvement from the initial sketch.
May 26th, 2011, 07:36 PM
Hi bro! very good portrait! I just joined CA and hope soon make my sketchbook.
June 6th, 2011, 04:12 PM
skMOP: hey, thanks for the critic, but I'm trying to argue with you, but it just looks ok to me, maybe someday it'll look wrong like a bunch of my drawings of the past, but right now, it looks ok.
Thanks for your comment!
DrawJunkie: hey, que bueno encontrarte por CA, síguele dibujando!
Well, here's an illustration i did for college, that was already on my DA page but haven't uploaded it here... so here it is =)
And 2 perspective studies too.
June 6th, 2011, 04:15 PM
July 7th, 2011, 05:40 PM
Love the variety in your sketchbook, you've got a great range of stuff in here!
January 24th, 2012, 05:19 PM
I think you have an interesting developing style. Nice angles and foreshortening. I think manga and realism (if done right) has a nice touch to it. There's a popular guy who does it. You probably know him, warren lou.. I think that's his name. No time for google right now lol. Peace.
April 14th, 2012, 12:03 AM
Hi guys, I was away... far far away! I'm back, I remembered that CA always kept me inspired and motivated, so I must do as the other people, practice and update my sketchbook!
I'm gonna be uploading the best i've done this past year, and then I'll start again like before, uploading almost everything!
@monstertree: Thanks! I've got a much more variety now!
@potryman: Yes I know that guy, he mostly does that exactly, manga+realism and a bunch of pinups
So the first one is just a sketch of a pretty cool idea i had when i was bored in an office!
the 2nd is "Calm" a portrait from my mind I did in college when I was bored also lol
3rd is a portrait from a series of portraits of children in my town "Faith of a Child"
4th is an Oils commission
Will be uploading a bunch of stuff daily and soon i'll get to the present!
April 14th, 2012, 06:54 PM
the child portrait is stunning.
awesome work. welcome back, friend. :)
April 14th, 2012, 07:20 PM
love the ink studies and portrait dude, did some myself the last couple of days :)
April 14th, 2012, 08:57 PM
Wow, so much improvement from page one, man! Good job! Your portraits and sketches are great.
Keep up the good work!
April 15th, 2012, 02:32 AM
@purb36: Thanks! it's nice to be back!
@oren90: Thank you man!
@Art Minded: Thanks! It's a very short sketchbook, it keeps quite some years =).
So, I fell in love with a medium this last year: Water based. I haven't painted that many times with it yet, but man, they're awesome.
First: Still life pastel study.
Second: Another pastel study, this one was very quick.
Third: The portrait that made me fall in love with water based. Even thou it's not that awesome.
Finally: A rant in form of illustration. It depicts the policemen in my town... most of them just stop you to get bribes from you. It's awful. Coloured pencils on paper 59x42 cm
Thanks a lot for your comments! it means a lot to me! more tomorrow!
