I have a problem with my smudge tool. Every time I try to smudge around with a shape, it seems to draw a rectangulair box around the shape, and when you smudge out of those boxes white edges appear around the smudge.

I made some screenshots of what happens:

I hope somebody knows what I'm doing wrong, because I sure don't.

Thanks for reading.

I've been doing a little smudge painting too and have run into a similar problem. What i think it is has to do with is smudging over an area with transparent pixels. The remedy i've found is either completely filling the layer in with a color so theres no transparent pixels, or just working on the bottom layer.

Well, I don't think that's a remedy, I think it's rather a way to avoid the problem :(
Working that way doesn't make the job easy to do either. I hope somebody has a real cure for it :<

I can say without a reasonable doubt that, that is the closest thing to a cure you will find. The smudge tool has been pretty ignored by the developers at photoshop it seems, and has quite a few bad things about it like that, which don't have a true remedy. your welcome by the way.
