cityscape for Ultropolis comics...it's made with photoshop and
graphic tablet...main idea was to make combination of old/gothic and futuristic architecture...

Nice concept...the mood is cool and very atmospheric...
But i can't say the same for typograhy...maybe this is not the original one but you say gothic and futuristic, typography must be balanced with art.
anyway..cool art

Very sweet atmosphere.
Only thing that doesnt really work with me is the tallest skyscraper.. it doesnt have a tenth of that detailed quality that the rest of the city has... Hence, it looses that lit mood that the rest has, seems out of place..
If I was the architect, id make the big one way more detailed... just personal pref ofcourse. Perhaps some neat notredame type ring structures on it...
just a thought.

thanks fellows for your comments and critique..

I agree with you that the typography must be balanced
with art...however my opinion is that it is balanced in this piece.
however.. I only did the image..

Don't you think it would look a litte silly if the objects in
backround and foreground would have same volume of detail?
I think it would affect in the impression of depth negatively...
But the crit that this piece is getting in other forums also...
is focusing in tall scyscrapers...

Hey- good job! I think the type and the detailing were both done well (sorry folks!). Very clean.
Keep it up!

All the colours andthe mood match perfectly for me, apart from the typography. I like the scheme and the building, which give the impression of (how to say) noe-goth (i don't what else to say), but definitly very cool. Cheers man.:chug:

I love this man! I love everything about it! I especially love the larger red spires in the mid-ground. My first impression was that they were actually some sort of gigantic mettallic chimney stack spewing ethereal smaug into the sky.
I love pieces that give this other worldly parralell dimension type feel.

heyman, just dont get me wrong, I really like the goth detailing on the rest of the city. I just found the skyscraper to pop out, due to its deviance. But perhaps that was what you were after?
Either way the whole mood is cool. dont get me wrong:)

I personally think that the sscrapers would look better if they were slightly darker at the base, and a bit more blurred (can`t quite find the right word for it) because of the atmosphere.
