Hello, this is my first post, I'm not that good at drawing yet but I hope to be one day!
I have been surfing this website for a long time but never posted because of my 2d inferiority complex. Well anyway this is the process I went through to draw a mech. It started out as a thumbnail as seen below in the blue box. Instead of just cutting out the mech sketch for the sake of this post I wanted to show that it I have a 5 to 1 ratio of sketching, which means I draw 5 crappy things and and get 1 interesting doodle. :nana

I then used the little thumbnail as reference and this pencil sketch evolved.

I then did a very rough marker render just to get an idea of form and soon I will do a final render to make it look like a finished piece.

All comment's welcome but no negative stuff :fruit:

in your thumbnail your bot looksbetter (balance wise). but in your rendered version, his balance is off center, looks as if he is going to tip over and smash the flower- especialy with his large head. maybe if he was down on one knee? or the other arm down on the grand to support/balance it?
lookin forward to seein the final version
:D
edit: (ooops, just read the "no negative stuff" on the end of your post!, sorry, no harm meant! just trying to help :) )

this is looking really good, i like the progress work. a few things that are bothering me tho:
I think the weight of the mech isnt distributed properly in this stance, i think he'D just fall voer, making the pose look a bit forced. Apart from that I think that if you use a bigger lineweight it works well with mechanical object, a nice fat outline might do him good. but thats just my 2 cents

good work

Hi, firstly I'm just kidding about the negitive feedback thing :D
secondly, thanks for your comments, you're both right about the balance. It never crossed my mind, I guess I focused to much on making a decent sketch that I ovelooked realworld phyics and gravity. Well in my next drawing I will keep these things in mind and hope to get something even more interesting.
