Greetings everyone!
My name's Dave Hudnut and I just found out about this forum a few weeks ago. This place is great! I love the work that everyone is doing here, the self portraits, the speed-robot thread, the sketchbook pages, it's all great stuff.
So I wanted to join the fracas and start posting some of my stuff. This scary monster design is something I whipped up a few months ago for my portfolio. If you want to see more of my stuff, you can find it at my website:

C&C is always welcome!
Keep on posting great art everybody!
Cheers,

That monster ROCKS! I love the whole deep-sea fish/crustacean look. Really menacing. And the execution is great! The thing I like the most about this beast is that he's a modest monster. He's got that strategically placed fin to act as sort of a natural built-in fig leaf! Ha ha!!

I went to your site. Very cool. Especially all the night scenes with scare crows and steam punk looking stuff. Your creature is very cool. Nice lighting as well. Keep posting. Love your style.

That's one pissed off fish snake-like thingy. One question though, is that it's tail or it's package? I recently saw this anime called Legend of Overfiend which was full of demons with snake packages that did nothing but ravage young women. I think it was like a saturday morning kids show in Japan or something.

Thanks everyone for checking out my stuff and for the welcomes. I'm glad to be participating in this forum.
daarken, Batteram, Hedrus, Burn Things....thanks
Oblio- I've got an idea I'm working on....we'll see if I finish by the deadline.
Sean- Thanks. I was doing this design while preparing some samples to send to Marvel Comics (the No-Crotch Comics Magazine), so their modesty seeped into this design. Btw, are you the lucky guy who got the concept job over at Blur?
AfroLaxMan- I feel the same way about most of the people on this forum too!
Lono-sharp eyes, cuz that's a crappy jpg and I can't even tell what's in the yellow jars!
Eric UNSL-nope, not "barbed for her pleasure," just a tail. But what's under his "fig-fin"? I saw one of those anime awhile back too, I think it was on PBS.
See you all around the forum!

Very cool idea. Sort of a demon-posessed creature from the black lagoon.
Great colors as well. The contrast of the red against the gold background makes it all a little more hellish.

That's quite a cool design, which you've whipped up there - the combination of human anatomy and characteritic traits of a deep sea fish is worked out nicely. I like little lights at his feet and calves even though the won't have a real purpose down there.
The colors on the character are really thick and strong. I like that. Let us see more such beautiful works, eheheh. :>

Grooveholmes, ODIN SIX, jwatson, Foxglove, WhiteBlaizer: thanks guys, and thanks for checking out my website.
Exo- Thanks. And yeah, I was thinking hellish when I decided on that color scheme.
taff- thanks. I’m all about functionally irrelevant lights that look cool! Any excuse to bring interest into dark areas.
Thanks again everyone taking time to reply and for the positive replies.
If people are interested in a tutorial, I’m not sure what would be most useful to everyone, so if you all want to let me know what kind of tutorial you’d want to see, I’ll see if I can come up with something.
Thanks again!
