Hello gents. Wasn't too active the past years, so I'll start fresh. Time to rebuild.

^^Hah... and then another 2 years and I decide to try again.... I really don't like this first image in the thread...this mechanical thing below, something about it always bugs me, oh well. Here's some random face doodles from early 2009 instead.

Love you bastards, nice to see some familiar faces. I've been making sure to do at least one random painter concept each day, so here's another. My painter skills feel crusty, the contrasts here have no balls, and I know it. Something to work on.

Thanks guys. I've been doing some random studies of explosions and fires the past day.
Started off simple enough with a little fire speedpaint:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/sinix3/dsb060408a.jpg
But, I thought it would be more fun to try an animated study of an explosion, so here's that:

Hey, Sinix! Long time no see! That animated explosion is great and that flying machine has some interesting shapes going on. I've always really liked your painting style. It has a cool 'choppy' quality to it (for lack of a better word).

Thanks for the enthusiasm.
Chuck18mp: Nah, although orange box is great, I've just been obsessed with the color orange for the past years. It's the best color afterall.
Dished: Going well, I would imagine riding that would be painful. Regardless, when I'm old and gray, I'm going to waste my time building stupid legged machines instead of drawing them.
archipelago: Funny you bring that up, I'm actually going to be reworking that comic in the upcoming weeks.. the writer seems to want to shop the full story to publishers.
Anyway, hurf, I've been playing around with all of that DEEP stuff the past days. Mainly interested in making a short sequential for POW... the other categories are just going to be offshoots from that. Hopefully I'll crank it out before the week ends. I'll be posting idea stuff in here.

Just dropping in to say I like your style man :) I recognize that boot from IDW a while back, hope to see you in there again some day.
The hand holding the joystick in that last piece doesn't really look like its can move the stick around very much. It doesn't really grasp the stick yet, because palm is pressed against the side instead of really grabbing it. The thumb seems to press into the stick as well. Then again, with the whole symplistic and strong style I guess you get away with it. Hope you get to finish something for DEEP on time :D

Sinix
August 11th, 2008, 04:46 AM
@merlin - It actually didn't take long, I sketched the walk animation in a simple animation program, then loaded up the frames in Painter and threw a quick 2 minute speedpaint on each one.
A short update of moving pictures.

Those are some awesome sprites you made (I happen to be a spriter myself). Have you ever tried making some of your robot designs? The striptease animatic kicks major ass, and I'd like to see it completed.

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon of Banana Ridah's and say that this SB rocks, hard.
Watching your Deep video, I must ask, is that a 6D Pen or the angle directional jitter?

Thanks again.
@Bones Weep Tedium - Yeah, I use Imageready, the built in photoshop gif maker.
@FightingSeraph - I'm still new to the sprites, I'll get around to making robots eventually.
@BRINKMAN! - No fancy pen, in Painter, a lot of the brushes are set to follow the path of your line with their flat edge. So, when you dab and stab as much as I do, it tends to confuse the brush.
End of the week, I feel like I should have more to show, but I've been spending my time on boring color studies and shit.

I do most of my sketching digitally these days, so I don't have much in the way of physical sketchbook pages lately. But, I figured I'd splash the page with some of these digital sketchbook pages that I doodle around on. I have tons, these are a few from the past week. Was trying to work on character interactions, kissing and whatnot. Although, I did realize that when you draw someone kissing and remove the second person it looks mildly inappropriate.

Hey Sinix, I just thought I'd let you know I saw this comic book at a store today (link) (http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/bestselling-comics-2007/2374-1.jpg), and I thought the main char looked a LOT like this image of yours (http://sinix.deviantart.com/art/18-21501205)... It may be a coincidence, but you may wanna look into it. The comic book is called "I luv Halloween".
Cheers dude! Love your work :)

Yes... Thank you for this and also self-portrait day, which both got me taking time to draw.
Self-portrait day drawing:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b11/sinix4/dsb110109b.jpg
I'm amazed we're already halfway through February. I spend much of my free time obsessing over the stock market. I'm such a habitual person, it's difficult to get into the routine of drawing. It's this site that keeps sparking me to try now and then. I'm not sure if my future will be in the art world, but it's the most fulfilling hobby I could ever have.
So, tonight, I went back and worked on some art I had started for a failed indie game project. I had wrote an amusing back story for it.
Sometime in the future, the devil got bored and closed the gates of hell. The dead walked the earth as zombies and destroyed society. Somewhere deep in the frozen wilderness of Russia, a team of scientists create a machine to be piloted and sent into hell to kill the devil and reopen the gates of hell. That machine was Devilbot.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b202/sinix5/dsb022310a.jpg
It was just meant to be a silly action-platformer. Anyway, enough about that, hopefully I can get back into the drawing habit... some simple pages of industrial design thumbnails probably.

Thanks for the support my friends.
@BRINKMAN- I'm not sure I have the stomach for an art career, my demands for myself are larger than my abilities... that makes me a wreck when I work for others.
I guess doing the chow this week gives me an excuse to update.
This would be that, I gave him a Welsh Corgi friend.
