Some of you have seen this piece already and I have posted it elsewhere, but I have to post at CA too, don't I! I love this place.

Here is a piece that I recently did for the October issue of Dragon magazine. I have been working the game industry for the past 9 years texturing and doing concepts here and there so my picture making skills are a little rusty. This piece turned out kind of flat and there isn't a whole lot of expression, but I still felt it was worth sharing. There are some more pieces that I have done that I will be able to share next month when they are published. Hope this does something for ya! :)

It looks pretty good, I just wonder why that spider lady would need any help from anyone else, I mean she's big, a spider, and has magic shooting out of her hands. What do the other guys do? I'm just kidding, it looks good.

overly cool...too bad the drider is a bit off when it comes a drow lovin maniac like me....................driders, unthinkin monsters who follow the will of Loth, the Spider Queen, deity of dark elves, are i bit uglier than the one shown here...

...yes, am an ass...but i see potential in your art, and if you ever draw a drider again, it'd be cool if it was bloated beyond recognition as many descriptions tell them to be...

you rocks!

*edit* forgot to mention...that clothing is quite appealing...hehehehe

Really nice stuff! Dryders don't get enough recognition. Lovely to see them.

I like the dwarf's armour.

Great work man! I very much prefer the 3rd from last WIP to the final though, stronger lighting imo. :]

wow looks cool.

I really like your pencil sketch, and the rendering looks pretty well done. The elf's face is really nice.

My only crits would be that the elf and dwarf seem a bit unconcerned that there is a big spider lady behind them (maybe they just ahvent noticed her yet)...and the dwarf's pose seems a bit stiff. Also her big...er...sack thingy that's attached to her body sort of gets lost a bit...I didn't catch it the frist time I looked at it. Maybe it could be picking up some of that light that is hitting her body?

anyways, pretty neat...

Thanks all for the reponse to this piece. Given that this is the first piece that I have done in sometime, I can't tell you how great it feels to get such a good reponse to the piece.

daG-ELLO - I don't recall exactly, but I am pretty sure it was around 40 hours.

Blackarts - The idea behind the piece is that they are about to get ambushed by the Drider. One of my own crits on the piece is that they lack expression. They are kind of stiff too, as you pointed out. Thanks for the reply!

Again, thank you for taking the time to reply. More artwork on the way.

I liked that issue and enjoyed that piece of art.

However, the floor and objects under the drider looked a little off to me. That stood out in my mind as being the piece's biggest internal flaw...maybe more of a compositional issue.

Perspective seems way off. It looks as if the floor is slanting upward, because both the characters and the spider lady are on 2 different eye levels, but they're positioned to be in one. Im not sure if I am being clear.. but maybe that's just me.
