Dimebag Tribute (MMM)

This is soooooo long over due! Both the tribute and just posting. I can't remember the last time I posted which makes me ashamed... since I talk trash on anyone else who doesn't post forever. :-P Ha ha, anyway here's a painting I did for the Music Month of May thing. As soon as I heard Dimebag was killed I flipped out, I couldn't believe it. So the first thing I wanted to do was do a painting of him as a tribute, cut to 4 years later and I've finally gotten around to it. I hope you enjoy it on some level.

Great work. I feel that the background above Dimebag and a little below the wings could use some re-working. The current brush strokes conform too much to the silhouette and I feel that it detracts from the piece.

Other than that its a terrific piece. I especially love how the wings were rendered.

First let me say to anyone who left a comment or will leave one, it means a lot that you enjoy this only because he's a hero to me and anyone who's picked up a guitar in the last 18 years or if you're a hardcore fan, the last 25. And this truly was a labor of love, so it's good to know that he (and this tribute) meant as much all of you as they did to me . Thanx guys!

Whoa!!!! I can't believe this thread came back to life! :-P Thanks so much to everybody for the kind words! I'm glad you all appreciated it as much as I did him and his amazing talent.

Nrx - No I actually never thought of that, but it would be amazing for anyone associated with him to see it and hear any feedback :-) (it's been like 4years since your post, I wonder if you're still watching :-)
