Hey guys...

I've received numerous requests to have Marko's DVD available as a download so here it is! :)

Each part is $12, or get all 4 (plus bonus materials) for $40.

"In this DVD, senior concept artist Marko Djurdjevic candidly shares his process of character development. He walks the viewer through a typical day for a designer of his caliber as he creates a post-apocalyptic gang comprising of four unique and stunning characters. As a bonus feature the DVD also includes a revealing behind-the-scenes documentary which gives a fascinating glimpse into the artist’s personal life and the motivation for creating his amazing artwork."

Just out of curiosity, is the DVD available in stores anywhere?

I love you guys, no seriously.
Although I do like a hard copies of stuff to hang onto by simple making your stuff into downloadable content you have no idea how much energy your saving from producing unnecessary disc. And the content amazing as always. As a ID product designer who cares tries to do his little part for the environment, I must say I like the cut of your jip. (not to mention what I'm saving on shipping to Canada.)

So planning on making the others downloadable any time soon, really been hungering for the traditional painting and sculpting vids. :yum: . Gotta keep feeding my artistic talent if I want to grown big and strong like Andrew, Marko or Coro.

Ps: I've been considering getting Androids vids but I don't currently own a copy of z brush do any off them have techniques or advice that could easily transfer to other applications like alias or photoshop.

Hey guys, it's awesome you finally made this available for download. I got the hard copy version and it was a really insightful DVD about character design. Good thing that now you upload the finished pics here, because that was what I felt the DVD was missing. Anyways, great decision for making this available this way.

Ps: I've been considering getting Androids vids but I don't currently own a copy of z brush do any off them have techniques or advice that could easily transfer to other applications like alias or photoshop.

There is plenty to learn about from the rest of the vids.
Even the ones with Zbrush are really useful regardless of wether you have zbrush or not, because they adress ways to reach your creation-to-be, how to be innovative and how to use your subconscious to get fast, good, resaults.
That along with some paintertips-tricks and Androids philosophy makes it worth the cash for the download.
If you would like smething to emulate similar effects to androids zbrush technique, download Alchemy: http://al.chemy.org/
It does extremely similar things to what Andrew does in zbrush in his "thumbs" video.

Go o the alchemy link above and you can even view Andrew using the program in the same fascion...
It's (currently) for free and therefore a budget version of thumbnailingprog.
Concidering zbrush isn't meant for thumbnailing the way Android does, I'd say it is a very good option.

This DVD is definitely worth it. The complete download is like twenty dollars less then I paid for it after shipping. MassiveDVD Are you going to make all the DVD's DLable? I still need the creature sculpting one.

How come the codecs used for each part are different? I can get the sound to play in the Freak part only, but other parts like the gunner which uses ALAC for the audio codec I can't play audio. This makes it very difficult as I don't know how to play these files without using quicktime because I have a hard time finding a free alac codec.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a previous buyer. I own the Noxs and some Jasons Chans. No problem.

Though, I got sounds problems with VLC and with Quicktime, the video is skips.

But ... Thks I was waiting for a great deal like this. I am rejoiced to hear Marko great wisdom. :D

pix-uk: try using a download manager, like Internet Download Manager (PC) or iGetter (Mac).

aefx: just update your quicktime. ALAC is actually Apple Lossless Audio Codec.

zenmaster: oh? where does it skip? PM me, please :)

everyone else: We're going to see how Marko's does before we encode the other DVDs for download, but it's a definite possibility. Our next DVD release will probably be released as both download and DVD at the same time.

Thanks for the reply, I'm aware of what the ALAC codec is. As I stated in my previous post Quicktime is not an option. For future endevours can you look into encoding content with a codec which is available cross-platform(mplayer, windows media player, VLC, quicktime, etc...). Not everyone can use quicktime.

aefx: well, we obviously want our files to be playable for everyone because we're nice, and it also makes good financial sense. why can't you use quicktime? it's pretty universal and simple so that's why we chose it.

If the best solution (in terms of file size and quality) works for only 99.99% of people, well, it might just have to be that way, but certainly nothing is set in stone.

Marko,

Thanks for the great tips. I popped your DVD in last night, then woke up this morning inspired to create a character concept for the Deep contest. All your advice really helped!

(although I still did thumbnails, oh well...)

I'd love to see you take these concepts to a painted finale...I've seen your tutorials in Imagine FX, but would love to see this stuff on a download....

Quicktime itself is not available on a variety of platforms, I happen to be using linux but I think it's important to note that many players (eg. VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)) do provide support for their formats and codecs, so in most circumstances it isn't a problem and to many is considered a nicer alternative to use a single player with support for most formats than having to install Quicktime's own player for that purpose alone.

You just happened to pick a bad combination of settings to encode to that isn't well supported by those players.
If I recall correctly ALAC should be supported though. But it's complete overkill to be using a lossless codec for downloadable video anyway.

I'd recommend H264 video together with AAC audio, they're good formats and supported by everything.

Thanks for your input, scibotic. I agree with h264 and AAC, but there's a long technical story about why we didn't use AAC on Marko's. It's still possible to go back and re-encode them (with an extra step) to get AAC, so anyone who wants re-encoded files should email me.

Cheers,
Aaron

Great videos! Totally worth the money for the dvd or the digital download!

Will we ever seen Marko coloring one of his characters or a superhero?
I think he's gret in coloring too and I would really like to see his process of coloring a character by him!

Hey Aaron, scibotic is right on the money so to speak. I sent you an email regarding obtaining a copy with alternate encoding. Let me know if you did not receive it.

Cheers,

I use to have this problem so I added a solution to the thread Elwell mentioned, in combination with a download manager I haven't had any failed downloads since.

hai folks, thanks for the input, i troubleshot and found a way to get it to work. basically, my wireless modem/wi-fi thing keeps re-acquiring IP addresses, it seems. i just hardlined it to the wall, bypassing the wireless router.

i am now watching this DVD... and i find Marko's voice so soothing.

Just for the record, we're able to solve about 99.99% of download problems, and we offer refunds for the other .01% if we can't resolve the issue after multiple emails. No one's in danger of throwing money down the hole. Anyway, glad you were able to work out the issue. :)

Payloadz is probably just calculating the first file. Don't worry about it... if it's $40 you'll get the whole thing.

I got this dvd a couple of weeks ago and have been watching it almost every day, and I just had to say how unbelievable awesome it is. I really feel like I have improved with drawing characters and have doing at least one a day this last week. It's also worth the money just for the info about attitude and all that stuff.
One question though, in the portfolio video, what is the first song that is played along with the sketches? I really like it (though I don't understand a single word they sing).
