blending tips question

I am sure this has already been asked but is there a better way to blend in photoshop than to use the smear tool, blur or healing brush?

I really like how you can blend so easily and intuitively in Painter...can Photoshop do anything similar?

imo brushing on low-high opacity is what everyone is doing here , smudge seems alright to be but sometimes it tends to make the painting appear blurred.

You will never be able to have the same feeling as painter..

But there is one way to achieve approaching result : you have to play with the finger tool's parameters; especially the randomness of the rotation.
Add a bit of texture, play with others options and you can obtain some very useful blending brushes.
