I really like the first two, you convey a good sense of the figure with a minimum of lines.

A book I recommend for color basics is one by Wendon Blake. I think it's called something like Color for the Artsit. I don't think it had much on color mixing, but it was mainly about color theory.

I found a few other helpful books at my library, but I don't remember their names.
