Hi all-
I've heard about this site and decided to check it out, and i'm glad i did, there is so much talent! I have seen many sketchbooks and decided to make one for myself. I hope i can learn from my mistakes and become an artist with as much talent as many of you have already. Thanks and enjoy!

Have you tried some life drawing to help you with anatomy?
Oxy
August 26th, 2008, 11:28 PM

Love the painting of the female torsos. Might want to think about a wider range of life drawings instead of just the torso. Keep it up..:yayca:

Great improvement on the drawing man. I like that you are drawing the entire figure as well. Your faces have taken a giant leap with this one.
Your painting still needs alot of work but...its getting there too! Keep going in this direction...whatever you are doing...keep doing it!
You might want to try and clean up your line work some...its awfully scratchy...if you tighten up your linework some it will help you nail down your forms when painting...its all connected.

I really like your style! A lot. There's something very angular about your forms, but in a good way. I don't really have much to crit. YOur color choices are unusual but apealing. Just work that anatomy and study. :^^:

Nice colors in your portraits. I would really suggest doing some skull studies, getting a good idea about the bone structure (and also muscle structure) beneath the face can make it a whole lot easier to tackle a portrait.
keep up the good work

that newest portrait looks like a definite improvement over your earlier ones! the guy has much more structure. i think you could work on your eyes even more - remember they are balls in the skull not almonds on top of the skin. and your skin colour looks great - is that painter or traditionally painted?
keep it up!

You'd think that they were traditional wouldn't you? Nope. Painter's Impasto oil, i love it. (Artist Oil's>Impasto Oil)

Nice job man!
Well for the environment there is not very much since of depth. Everything seems to be in the middle of the picture. Try and separate foreground, middle ground and background. Add a crisp element very close to the viewer and then some hazy elements far far away. Blur those mountain ranges some and add some smaller, more fleshed out details such as rocks and shrubs in closer to the camera.
