I've been drawing since I was young, probably started when I was 11. I started reading the Dragonlance chronicels and fell in love with the art.
Naturally I started tracing, learning how artists would draw this and that, and no I never posted any of it on the internet or claimed it as my own.. especially since back then I didn't own a computer :)
Anyway, I've been drawing since then on and off, trying to improve, and it's been a very very slow process. Even though I continue to practice (especially in recent years) over and over, the rate of my improvement seems slower then mollassas on a cold winter day.
My art was influenced by the furry culture since it seemed I had an easier time drawing "animal-humans" better then humans. I know I'll get flack for drawing furry, I get it about everywhere I go, but it's something I've grown accustomed to and I rather enjoy drawing humanized animals and the such.
Anyway, the point of this thread was brought up because of something someone recently said to me. This person wasn't trying to be an asshole, they were just being honest.
He said that I just didn't have the talent, and that it would take me years to improve on my anatomy to the point where it would look even passable. I had to be born with the talent, and I just wasn't.
What do you all think of that statement? Do you think this is true or do you think someone without the talent naturally could develop it over a long period of practicing?
PS: I'm not going to post any of my art right now, I'm sure if you do some internet detective work using my username you'll see my art floating around, most of it I'm not all too proud of.
