I'm losing drawings to smudging, so I'm looking into something to stop it.
I've heard that hairspray will do well enough, and if so--aerosol or squirt bottle? Does it make a difference?
If hairspray's no good, what should I look for in a fixative?

Krylon Workable fixative
or
Krylon Crystal Clear.
Same price as hairspray and a zillion times better.
You can buy both at Wal-mart or any good art store.
Remember to check the Craft section and the Hardware section.
Workable Fixative is good if you plan on going back in to the piece.
A light misting of either one is enough to prevent smudging.
Do a couple of light coats to be certain.

Make sure you are in an area with good ventilation, preferably outside, when using fixative, especially Crystal Clear.

If you're using enough fixative so that the pages need to dry, you're using too much. A few light dustings are all that you need.
