I sketched this about a week ago and finally got around to coloring this afternoon. Pretty simple, but I am happy with it:

I'mm a total newbie at this but I love your picture. I really love it when people post crisp sharp images such as this. I like how the flesh has a solid wooden type texture.

The arm, or thing coming out of the dryad`s chest, seems a little flat to me.

Thanks all.. :)
I am glad you like this MonkeyBurger. I like the crisp lines/shapes too. I did this in Illustrator and that program allows you to achieve those kind of results. It's probably the main reason why I like using it so much.
Sinister.. thanks for the crit. I see what you mean about the depth on her arm. It might be a little too flat. Right now it doesnt bother me enough to change. Maybe, after I look at it more, I will change my mind and deepen the shadows.
I'll tell you though, it does kind of bother me that you don't read that as an arm.. but think that it might be something extruding from her chest. She is supposed to be turning her back towards you with her shoulder right there in the forground. To be honest, I am not sure how you can see it any other way.. but maybe it is the depth (or lack of depth, I should say) that is causing the problem.
YO! Foz! Nice to be seen. I've been very busy these last few months. To be honest, I have done very little artwork. Just bought a house, dontchaknow. It was built in 1903 and needed a bit of painting and remodeling done.. not to mention the actual moving part. It took up a lot of my summer and early fall getting that all worked out and done. Pretty excited about this place but very glad to have that part of it done. I have my own dedicated studio now! Cant beat that. Not to mention a garage.. for sculpture. I am excited to start doing that again. Havnt done much since college (which is too bad. It was my major after all).
I appreciate your honesty about this piece. Cant win em all but maybe you will like my next one ;)
I havnt forgotten about you Odin.. still have the dream of finishing Ragnarok. Here is a link to where that image stands:
link (200k.. kinda big) (http://www.toddpowelson.com/ragnarok.jpg)
I still have a lot of fine tuning to do. Need to add the World Tree too (which Ive drawn.. but not colored) but I am getting closer.
Well, thanks again all. Trying to draw more..
.. which reminds me Odin. Ive got another image of you I need to finish and post soon. Its a picture of you hanging on the World Tree (I really like that mythology. Can you tell?) I'll post that in sketches sometime soon.

Yeah, moving here has really got me started. Getting a bit of oil painting going.. one that I am excited to see finished (it's one that is taking me a while.. as usual. Its a really big canvas is my excuse ;) ). Been doing that the last couple nights.
.. I am not sure how long this avatar will stay. It suited my mood one day but that day is past. Will probably change it sometime soon :)
Sorry Odin. It is a large file. I just cannot bring myself to shrink it much more. Already loosing detail.. Ive got cable here and I guess sometimes I forget..
