Alrighty, howdy all. I made one post on the art forum, so I'll show off my three latest models here :)

Anyways, it's not as good as ANY of the models here, but here we go:

There's my web page. On it are the three models, in a 3D viewer format. You will need DirectX9 and MS3D Viewer to see them (just say yes to the download).
I use Milkshape 3D, a low-poly modeler, and these three ships are for a space game called Freespace 2, who's poly limits were recently bumped from about 1000 for fighters to about, well, there's a 10,000 limit on each sub-object, and you can have quite a few sub-objects, so there you go :)

you definitely have to clean up your smooth-groups. there are some shading errors.
except from that, they are nice so far.

edit: oh, and you really shouldn't model out those holes in the first one. You said that the polycount is limited to 1000 per model, and the first one already has 5696 (which are waaay too much for that model)

No, the polycount USED to be 1,000, it's now 10,000 ;)

Anyways, that model was actually rapid-prototyped, so I just decided to put those in as extra eye candy. I might take them out in the in-game version.


EDIT: Added a fourth model, a WIP repair drone.

The drone's completed. Needs some work, I know, and the arms are all one sub-object, hence very little animation capabilities. But I like it anyway :)

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I figured this ship didn't merit a new one.

Anyways, what do you guys think? It's trans-atmospheric, which explains the fan :)

I think they look pretty good, but I question whether the polycount on some of those could have been lower. I really liked the design of the repair drone. Would like to see em textured.:D
