I posted in the critique center once before. I am an uber noobie artist, and have lurked for a while. I think is area is a great place to improve, so please give me all the critiques that come to mind. I really want to learn from everyone!

I guess I will post this first.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I will try to slow down with a harder brush. That's definitely something I am working on.

Wow, nice start for this sketchbook.
Really liking the characters on your last post, the expression on the one of the left's face is a bit weird (but cool weird!)
The edges seems okay on the last one, but on your past ones they need to be a bit sharper, in my opinion.

Well, cant give you any more crit because I just started to get into art..

If by any chance you could stop by my sb, I would really like that :D

Keep 'em coming!

toogoodwu
May 29th, 2008, 01:26 PM
Thanks alternative. That seems to be the consensus about the edges. I am working on it! :)

And I will check out your sb as well!

Hey thanks for the comment!

I wish I could say these were completely from my imagination, but many are actually based off of characters from this MMORPG called Dofus. They are my own spin on these chars.

Another one, inspired by phrozac.

June 19th, 2008, 08:23 PM
Hey there is nothing wrong with taking your own sping at other peoples charaters, i mean ALLL artists do that, they either becom influenced by others,or take parts of what they like from other peoples creation and modify it to their liking. Good work on this new pieace! The green overlay gives it a feeling of toxic deadlyness =D

Hey, I really like your last post above. The style is similar to what I am trying to achieve. I am also a newbie artist so I cant be as constructive as others but I am looking forward to your progression throughout the year =). Keep at it, your stuff is looking great!

Really nice start on that sketchbook - I'm particularly drawn to the last piece of sketching you did; there's a lot of nice stuff going on there. I also love your little signature piece - it's got a lot of appeal. The painting of the woman with the sword is looking awesome so far.

humanNature - Great advice. Maybe at some point, I will craigslist a model and do something with some friends.

zweiDee - Thanks so much. So those characters are actually in game characters for a couple of friends. The one with white hair is a girl! Although, Raiden is pretty girly as well.

Interceptor - Thanks so much. I am trying to get looser with my poses. Again, I think anatomy studies will help this.

Verehin - Thanks!

Vangaert - Thanks a bunch. I really like your sketches as well. I think one thing for both of us to work on is to draw more from nature and observation, and less to emulate our favorite artists.

Kinjura - Thanks so much. I will work on this sketchbook and hopefully improve!

Uber noobie, is a bit harsh on yourself don't you think? You got some really strong pics going on here, and you're not bad with colour either in my opinion, of course I have an untrained eye so I couldn't tell you properly. Keep it up =)

Walnut, yeah, there is a whole slew of anatomy issues with that one. I did some free transform on the line art, and a friend is coloring it. Hopefully, it will be an improvement!

your characters are very creative and your colors are awesome, they arent flat like mine. Can i ask how long it takes you to color your drawings * like the songstress*?

toogoodwu
November 27th, 2008, 10:53 PM
Nesser, thanks for the comments! It usually takes me an hour or so to color the pieces. I am trying to learn to slow down, so that my artwork actually looks finished.

Songstress took me about two hours to color after doing the drawing.

Happy thanksgiving!

This latest was hard. The request was to make it look like Audrey Hepburn. So I used a reference to get parts of the face, but I didn't want to just copy a photography. So I forced myself off of the reference for the rest of the process and the details.

The legs look a bit mismatched, and I don't know what to make of the green hair and red/burgundy outfit (feeling christmasy? xD), but it's actually pretty awesome looking. Keep pumping.

toogoodwu
December 23rd, 2008, 02:10 AM
Thanks thanks Meissner. I think the legs got awkward because I tried to make one leg seem in front of another. I messed up on the lighting, and also on the length. So that's why it looks like she has a skinny leg! The colors were by request.
