hey Bay area CA-ers,

here is a great opportunity to pry the wacom pen out of your hands, step away from the monitor, and venture out into the sunlight and get your hands dirty.

Come chalk draw with me and artist Mark Wagner and thousands of other people on the World's Largest Chalk Drawing. From May 27 - June 7th , 9am - 6pm, we'll be drawing a large salamander the size of two football fields. We end on June 7 and will be getting a satellite photograph at 11:20am. There are NO Art Teachers in the elementary schools of Alameda CA and we want to show the world what we can still do. For more info and directions see: http://www.reenchantingtheworldthroughart.org. School classes are welcome, please contact Cristin Barnes - cristin@surefireprod.com, to schedule time.

That looks totally awesome.

I used to run something called 'chalk day sundays' last year where we'd go and take chalk to the park and just start drawing. We'd always end up with a bunch of kids joining in and it was really fun.

How are you going to protect from the rain for that length of time? Or is it just a sort of pray-to-the-weather-gods thing? :)

hopefully we won't get rain, if it does it may help keep the chalk down from blowing away in the last afternoon winds that rip across the runway on our site which is a decommissioned Naval Air Base.

Here is a recent photo of our site. 300 x 300 ft. = 90,000 sq. ft. (gulp)

I can't make it for the big finale on the 7th but I can make it on one of the earlier days! I'll try to drag as many art hooligans with me as I can. :steph:
