I'm totally new when it comes to sculpting (I've only tried sculpting some miniature characters in fimo-dough before) and would like some helpful tips on sculpting.

First off:

What do I need to get started?

What type of dough/clay is the best to make fine-detailed sculptures (for example: dragons, aviary creatures etc.). I've heard of the "Super Sculpey" clay, does anyone have any good tips on how to use it?

What other tools do I need? What paint is good to color the finished sculpture?

What type of wire should be used, is it necessary to always use wire when sculpting more advanced sculptures?

I have so many questions. :p Basically, I just want to know what tools and what clay do I need to get started? My fingers are itching and my imagination is running wild! ^^

:steph:

If you go into the 3D section there is a tutorial (or two) by smellybug that are stickied. They'll tell you everything you need to know. :)

Hello Welcome to CA!

There are three stickies in the 3-D section that steered me in the right direction. Pour through all of them. I've only used Super Sculpey thus far, but that seems to be the medium of choice for what it sounds like you want to do. Any particular questions just ask and someone will be sure to help you out.

BTW, thanks for commenting on my creature
