Anyone ever see bristol, crescent, or any other hot press illustration board larger than 30x40? I'm in need of a huge piece and can't seem to find any. Preemptive thanks to anyone that can direct me to a spot that has very large pieces.

Bainbridge (I'm fairly certain) makes a 40 x 60 double weight, and there are at laest some acid-free mounting boards (in a pinch) that are that size or close. Just for fun, google illustration board 40 x 60 and see what comes up. I'm guessing the prices are in the $20 range.
An alternative (even more expensive) would be Gatorfoam in lighter weights (resin-impregnated stuff like foam core but with the handling characteristics of glass--you actually have to saw it rather than use a knife) which comes up to 48 x 96, possibly even larger.
If you're really desperate, see if you can find suitable paper of huge size and glue it to a high-grade birch plywood (1/8") after you gesso and sand the birch to prevent "migration" to the paper. I'd suggest rice or wheat paste.
ADD: Rabid, I forgot you were in Pgh. Check with Top Notch on Craig Street in Oakland. Years ago, I used to buy cartons of 40 x 60 boards from them. They probably don't stock them, but if you go out and make nice-nice noises, maybe they'll check their source catalogues and order some for you.

Ha! Thanks Ilaekae! I'll check it out, maybe I'll jibber like a baboon. Maybe that noise will please them.
P.S. When are we gonna hang man? I'll buy you a beer...
