Based on the film "The Black Hole" by Disney. A marvellous (if very bizzarre) film that's screaming for a Tim Burton or Ridley Scott remake  I think...
C&C greatly appreciated.

That movie scared the be'Jesus outta me when I was a kid.. Probly one of the scariest diz-knee films out there. It would be nice to see a whole set of re-designs ( from the creepy crew to the little robots.) Also the main ship was great..
Looks like an awesome start. only crits would be the obvious- like giving more definition to Maxamillion's left arm..and overall adding more texture to both characters...I wish I would have thought of doing some thing like this..thanks for sharing

Yeah, I really like that movie as well...it was a tad strange and scary at the time. Also, I thought the idea of floating robots fairly novel...what was the other robot's name? Was it Vincent, Victor, Vinny...something like that. Anyhow, I think it's a great painting. I dig the monotone red, perfect color to represent the movie. My only crit (which is a personal one) is Max. The original had such a great silouette, very iconic and very ominous. I almost want to see legs on your revisioning to recapture the originals iconic "X" shape. In any case, great job!

The head is nicely modelled and the stroke economy is generally good.
The guys pose looks a bit stiff. The head is between the shoulders, try lowering them or raising the head? Usually people stand with their back bent like a ( rather than a |, sorta with the croth slightly outside the balance center line. The feet looks a bit like chubby triangles.
Perhaps you could afford some more hues on either the robot or clouds (grey?) since the guy has some. Right now you have 3 elements existing in the same plane, the swirl, robot and clouds.

Oooooh yes! Weeeeeeeee!
i couldnīt agree more, Ceenda!
Such a cool idea! I sometimes mention this movies to my friends, who goes - ?????
I remember reading the comic aswell, and drawing tons of those smaller, friendlier floating bots!
I loke the colors in this one.
However I think the design is a step back to the 50s almost, I want him more hi-tech, heīs so massive right now (even though thats cool too - lots of hardware inside).
Also, I feel the need for more shadows on Max and some shadow underneath him to. :D
Darn, now Iīm gonna dream about the dark hole again... ;)
