I'm beginning work on my AP art portfolio this year. I feel that my best subject for my concentration portfolio is go with portraits because they are undoubtedly my strongest point. However, I'm not good enough to draw a really good portrait without using a picture taken by myself and a grid... A method which I dislike for its unoriginality and plain-ness.

So, in order to make it maybe alittle more unique, I was thinking about taking several pictures of myself (i have no volunteer models :( ) and combining them into a single picture, making all the faces fade out, almost like movie covers. This way, I can use the grid to make the faces extremely accurate and well depicted, while still making a very original and unique work.

Anyways, I'm not really sure how to cut out the photos and combine them all into one. So, any help would reaaaaly be appreciated. I've already gotten a really late start on this project, so the quicker the better!!! thanks

You should take various pictures, and put them in one image, each one in their own layer... then start from the top layer, and start ereasing random parts of your face. (you can do this be using the eraser, or using the lasso tool and selecting all the areas you don't like and pressing the DEL key, or you can use add a layer mask and erase the areas you don't want by painting them black). Then go to the layer that's underneath that one and do the same, and so on and so on. Hope you can understand what I'm trying to tell you here... & please show us what you have come up with!

later,

it's easy, just open them in PS.. and make one of the them the MAIN ONE. then just select the wole pic, and copy it... then go to your MAIN ONE and paste it! (Ctrl+V)... PS automatically creates another layer when you paste something in an image. do the same with the rest of the photos. Now just remember to save the file as a PSD file, because other formats will lose the layers... Save as PSD!!
