Soldier Concept

Here's a soldier re-worked from one of my earlier personal projects. Trying not to get too detailed in the coloring, just wanted to get the basic colors down. Hope everyone enjoys..

I really like it overall.
What I dislike is this swastika patch, I don't think it's necessary to put a swastika there.
I suggest to create own, new symbols without a negative background (and I don't want to start this endless discussion about swastikas in art now :D I just think that there's no need for it in this concept, it's rather disturbing)

Thanks for the replies so far. I can easily make my own symbol, but sorry the swastika will stay. He's a Nazi, and a bad guy. It is part of my story and will not be changed.

I like the color choice very much.

People, stfu about the swashtica.. It's not just the nazi simbol. It's a symbol for the sun, or a shipping company on iceland..

If he wants to have that symbol, let him, it's part of the picture, and it's not like its on some red cloth or anything.

I love the pic. Very HL2ish imo. Nice clean lineart and great concept.

It looks like a very good, functional and badass design right now. I'd suggest more rendering to create some depth in places(how his arm interacts with the weapon.) The fin on his head just sets the whole mood for his character and I'm really digging the mask. Cool work man.

He already said, that the guy is supposed to be a nazi.

And I also think, that no one here can imagine how much terror and sorrow the nazis brought over the world.

i have a problem with that.

you can draw red suns on white even tho in WWII Japan had internment camps - rape of nanking - pearl harbor. you draw happy us flags - we had japanese internment camps.
Soviet symbols are FINE - 21 million died from that crappy government. dont start about the nazi symbol. just let it go, its part of a storyline, deal with it.

I knew it was a german before I saw thw Swas lol. The helmet gave it away to me neway. But I like German uniforms the Helms were my fav. I hated US Helms in ww2.

This is pretty cool, very reminiscent of the early star wars storm troopers concepts. I take it you've seen them? In the empire strikes back art book.
I like the color scheme, but wouldnt yellow make them an easy target?!
Also the eye slot on the helmet is too low, if you imagine were his head is, his eyes would be in his moth almost, might want to ajust the helmelt so that sits higher.

As for the swashtica I don't see what all the hubbabbalu is about, it's only offencive if you think it is.

ummm cry me a river.. build me a bridge and get the F*ck ove it! Who really cares? disturbing? Okay the guy is a soldier... he has a big gun.. he shoots people and tears their body apart. Takes them away from their loved ones. Get over the fact that he has a nazi symbol. I dont condone what the nazis did but its irrelevant. Who really gives a damn. its a damn drawing. A lot of the drawings you concept artists will be doing will consist of something with a violent nature (well i guess depending on what field of concept art). I think the pic is badass.

I don't think that the swastika is overly offensive but overly overused. if it's part of some storyline we don't know yet, ok. But in general sticking swastikas all over an uniform to imply that he's the bad guy is just unneccessary. this guy has badass written all over his body, sweet concepts, though a bit jin-roh-ish as mentioned above.

the sawstika to me in this design's pretty cool..

and really... who are you to tell somebody what not to draw and what to draw in their designs...

if the person wants to draw a giant personified swastika.. hell let him..

the art is sbujected to having the swasstika its a NAZI soldier.. what would you rather have KILL ALL JEWS plastered in army stencil?..

A few of you got that my helmet design is based of the old WWII german helmets. Thats what I was going for there. The symbol as I said before stays, because I have a great story for a comic/movie proposal I have been working on, and they are the nemesis. And yes its based on nazis of the future. I know its been done, but not in the way I hope to tell. The yellow as some came to say is actually suppost to be more of an orange-ish color. I'll correct that problem to make that more clear next time. Thanks for the over-all positive responses. I hope to get a front design for all who asked soon. Been busy with freelance lately, but he turned into a doodle I had to finish. Look for more to come...
