ugh, sorry if this is a bit customer supportish.. i work for ebay. :)

Ok, so generally when you buy stuff on eBay, you're buying from people who are either selling used goods or selling for a living (ie they get stuff wholesale and sell it on eBay).

normally with electronics, wholesale is not much cheaper than retail, so for you to get a good deal on electronics it is either the manufacturer selling, or someone gets a great discount for volume, or the item is used, or the seller has no idea what they are doing, or the item is fraudulent (this one is least likely and easy to spot). There are other reasons, like generating interest in a new product for example, but you get the idea.

The first thing you check when you see an item you want to buy is the seller's Feedback. To do this just click on the bracketed number beside the seller's user name. This will bring up their scorecard, which is basically their track record on ebay. Take a look at the comments left by other buyers, If their track record looks good, there is a good chance they are a trustworthy seller.

quick fraud check. Beside each feedback comment left by others is a link to the auction the comment is about. Check through some of these, if the member normally sells small cheap teddy bears, and right now you're looking at an enticing Gas Plasma TV at an amazing price by the same seller, it's probably fraud. The account has likely been hacked and is being used by somone else. If it looks too good to be true....

Next part of the lesson. :) Don't be afraid to ask the seller a question BEFORE you bid! If, for example, you want to know if the item is used, or how well used, how old etc, and it doesn't say in the listing, ask the seller. You can do this by clicking on the seller's user ID (You have to have an eBay account and be signed in for this). This will open up a window that allows you to send an email to the seller. Ask what software (if any) the tablet comes with, ask about warranty information, ask about the computer requirements that you need to use it all that kind of stuff, but definately ask before you bid.

anyways, that should smooth out a few bumps for you. :D If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask. If I see too many more eBay questions, I just might write up a more comprehensive tutorial about trading on eBay.

OH YEA! don't buy a "gas plasma tv" on ebay... ;)

Something I read more than once is that you should look for a licensable version.
Jason Manley says "ebay is a good place to start" (must be true then!)

When I bought mine on eBay a few months ago, the prices of the new ones were not that great. After buying it on eBay, I found a web store where I could get it a bit cheaper.

I heard someone complain about the old Intuos pens, saying his hand used to hurt real bad after using one.

I think the most important thing is to get a Wacom.
Get the best you can get for the money you have.
I think even the small Wacoms are ok.

But I haven't painted with a bigger Wacom yet.
The professionals think that bigger is better.

A good small version would be the Graphire2 (no Artpad II). If possible get an Intuos (II).

Make sure it's not just the tablet ... you'll need a pen too. ;)
I'm not sure but I think there are Mac and Pc versions.
(Maybe that's just the software that comes with the tablet though!?)
I'd be careful there too.
