I'm glad there's a sketch section now. I always was hesitant to post any of this stuff in the finished section and i didn't think they fit in the I need help section. Just an ecclectic collection of creature sketches lifted from the pages of several of my art school sketchbooks. they're about 7 months to a year-and-a-half old. Definitely not as beautifully drawn as K Chen's sketches, but I still kinda like 'em. Comments always welcome...

Wow, nice work!!
I really like the loose line and the amount of character and life you gave to the characters. Good expressions and body gestures :)

I like all the different kind of anatomy, this is very impressive. You must have look at animals for hours, don't you ?

Well I think you have your place at the Lucasfilm studios :))

A lot of those drawings could have been in the Artbooks of episode 1 or 2

thanks again, everyone for your respnses! Yeah animal anatomy is a big part of designing creatures, as anyone will tell you, although I don't necessarily spend enough time at the zoo studying it. Josh, I'm shooting to be in Venice the first of November. A lot still to do before then...

Looking great! I'm doing a lot of these type of things myself (for ThunderDome atm.), but after seeing yours I realize that I must vary my designs more. I'm kind of stuck with doing overly muscular things. I must dare to draw those scrawny and fat bits too!

WOW! truely amazing! unlike many artists (including myself) you arent stuck with just the human or one or two animal anatomies, you run the whole gambit and do them all well. fantastic how you can wrap your brain around the forms and understanding of the anatomy so easily and so well.

awesome stuff!

Absolutely inspiring! I have a question for you......I read in another thread of yours that you were at the Columbus zoo...you didn't just graduate from CCAD did you?

(My alma mater )

Thank you very much, Prometheus, itchi, and Salty! Yes, I am, in fact, a recent graduate of CCAD's illustration major. Its great to see fellow alumni here in the forums! I was introduced to the wonders of the Columbus Zoo through my rapid sketch classes with Prof. Ron Tardino. It seems like everybody who ever went to CCAD had class with him at one point or another, so you probably have had the same experience. So far you, me and Joshua the James are the only CCADers that I know of on these boards, although there are *ahem* others who SHOULD be posting...

Hahaha! Good ole' Tardino....Is he still wearing his trademark leather vest?
I have fond memories of CCAD, most of those being Hazelrig's 3D classes......alas it seems an eternity ago!
