Been so busy with classes at the Atelier I haven't had time to update this. I'll try to be more regular during the holiday break. I've been experimenting a bit and trying to stay loose and work on my creativity more. C&C welcome!

well you certinally have some talent! i prefer the first sketches in pencil to the latset ones, but that's just personal preferance! they're good though. it's quite difficult to see what all of them are though, but otherwise really great work. keep it up!:D

Great stuff dzu, like i said before, very inspiriing. Its great to see you go nuts with your sketchbook. At your rate you'll probably have like 5 of those things filled up by the time we go back to school. Have a good christmas and new years and what not, and i'll see you next semester.

Just one page today. Busy with Holiday stuff. I don't really like the first design and the perspective on the legs and feet/tracks are off.

let yourself go crazy when designing mechs. Imperfections can turn into improvements if you approach it right.

I tend to draw a very loose random scribble and then let the lines decide what shapes will be formed. Keep experimenting! mabey try some color!..

This started as another page for the X-games champion but it evolved into some other stuff.

Still looking good. Staying loose with your linework I see in sketches. :) Have you been doing any perspective excercises?

Keep up the good work! MORE!

The last 2 compositional ones are really nice. Your faces have come a long way in 9 months. You're on the right track, I think you should push the values some more though (in the compositional ones). Maybe add some interesting shapes, and rehatch the darker areas...or something along those lines. A great start, but it can be pushed alot further I think.

Cool linework! I really dig your looseness! your clean, mechanical stuff is da bomb!
The only thing I would have to say critwise is that some of the tech/mech-stuff seems a bit twisted out of perspective. It's not much, though. Still looks great!

Keep 'em coming!

Definately some cool stuff in the past couple of days Dzu. Some of the poses seem akward, but not really wrong. It gives them a lot of motion the way you have it, I really like it. Awesome work.

Heya Dzu, really really nice work. I especially like looking at all your pen and ink stuff--the spontaneous and experimental quality gives it a lot of personality. I think if you took those a step or two further you coudl really develop some excellent comps and ideas for finishes.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm sticking to pen now to keep me loose and to catch my mistakes. Once I get better I'll switch to pencil and work on my renderings...

Yupa: I'll see you around comic-con time

StephenC: When are you getting back? Are you married yet? fat off all the dim sum? :) We'll have to go sketching when you return.

Just a couple more pages. I have more done, but haven't had a chance to scan them in yet

good work, but you should work on making sure your work has a solid structure and perspective (goes for bots, as well as people). Also, try to keep your light source consistent. Oh yeah, and work from the general to the specific, meaning before you worry about a characters hair, or eyes, make sure their skull feels solid. Keep up the good work.
