Anyone know of a way to resolve issues with painter adding an unintended horizontal stroke at random while drawing? The issue doesn't occur in any other drawing program. Coincidently my image hose went wonka aswell around the same time.
I'm operating on Microsux XP
Things i've tried:
Reinstalling
Disabling my built in mouse
changing tablets
changing pen
Spitting on my keyboard,
while flipping the screen the bird
Example:
Notice the randomly straight lines heading off to the right and fading away as they do.

if you are using a usb-hub try connecting the tablet into the computer directly

also, having the tablet too close to a monitor while working has been known to cause problems.

Some goon has got to state the obvious so it might as well be me, but are you sure that when you did a few pencil strokes there you didn't accidentally hold down the shift key which will constrain your strokes to straight lines? Almost certainly not because there are no vertical or diagonal lines there either and if that were the mistake then there probably would be. But hey, I had to ask, I'm a goon!
It would be interesting to learn if switching the USB works though.

I had the same problem and unplugged the tablet from my monitor and plugged into my computer (powered usb port) solved it.

Captain Graviton I don't think there are any stupid questions, but no. I should be so lucky, I could easily fix that one. That does make me wonder if maybe my lame ass laptop is doing it. The mouse key broke and got stuck randomly, so why not my shift key mysteriousely. They do always go right though, so I guess that may rule that out. I could disable the shift keys on the keyboard and try though, or can I?
Marvin5 I don't have a powered USB but i'd be willing to drop the small amount of money on one of those over a new wacom. It's worth a shot.
I did try just switching to a new USB on my laptop but that didn't work. I was given a cintiq but I have to break my stuff down and set it up constantly to work and I love this little one so much it'd be great if I could figure it out.
Thank you thank thank you to everyone for any suggestion at all. I'll keep checking back and will absaloutely let you guys know if I figure it out.
