View Full Version : What is your main source of finding work?

I'm a "new" freelance artist, as in I've just started marketing myself. I was wondering how other people from CA find work, and if they have any tips for how to find work. I've heard some people find work from art shows. Where do you find the most work?

I usually head over to craigslist... it has a large number of film related jobs in the area. After that I check various job boards. Third I'll just research companies and send them samples of my work.

Find companies producing the type of work you're interested in and send along links to your portfolio. Update them every few months (if you've added anything significant to the port), go to the trade shows and conventions and meet the people you need to talk to. Consider building your client base with smaller jobs and work your way up to gain experience and creds. Good luck!

We were discussing self promotion, which is related to your question, in this thread http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124653
