You can practice for free on your own, why would you volunteer to work for free for someone else? This sets, in my opinion, a bad precedent for both yourself and other artists. We get enough people who ask us to work for free or next to nothing without giving them the idea that it's actually a reasonable expectation.

Some people enjoy being part of something larger, working in a group atmosphere as apposed to by themselves.. Being organized and given a sense of direction can be a huge benifit to artists, not only as far as their productivity but also in how far they push their abilities
