Welcome to CA :)

watercolor is a difficult medium for me. But off the bat I would try to shoot for stronger evidence of lighting - highlights and shadows. The area in the trees in the bg looks just as light as the stream to me.

Perhaps posting an image of the reference you used may be helpful.
