Hello All! :)

This is the new VOTING thread for the CAVEMAN Super Stylised Challenge!!

Now has come the time for the following artists to post their fantastic final images in this special VOTING thread:

I wasn't sure of the following 2 artists had finished their images at the time of their last posts so I'm making a note of them here, just in case those were final images:

800 or 1024 sized images are fine for this stage (but high-res versions are good for 2DArtist magazine!;))

Please post all entries before 8th May 2008 10:30AM GMT.
Only entries posted in the 'SUPER Stylised Challenge - Apr 2008 - Caveman! - VOTING!' thread before this date will be eligible for Voting!

Voting will then start immediately afterwards and will run until 15th May 2008 10:30AM GMT.

We will post to commence the Voting on the 8th. Voting will be the same as last month, with each voter putting forward their top 3 entries, in order: 3pts for a 1st place, 2pts for 2nd, and 1pt for 3rd. This means that we will all have to choose very carefully!

Please feel free to give reasons for your selection, as it will be good feedback for everyone!

1st - Chuck,mate. - I just love it, the quality is amazing. And it's funny!

2nd - Tommoy - I like the one you chose better than the other one. I love the moose :)

3rd - Tyjohn714 - I like the style and the overall atmosphere. Those eyes in the woods are a nice touch :)

1st- Tommoy - Great story, dark but humorous expression.. And the oil color looked strokes.. Cool..
2nd- ChuckMate - I like the stupid face.. And the fluid ambiance.. :)
3rd- Monstertree - Great man.. The simple but good usage of brush and color.. Besides.. The costume is besides quite expressive.. :)

1. Loztvampir3 - I liked this image immediately, its humorous and has great colors and textures. Only small crit would be the left wrist, it looks a bit off.
2. Jpedro - The hands, feet and rest of the body look great, the head has lots of character but looks a bit flat. I like the idea of the howling dog. The lighting looks okay although i'm not sure if the green isn't a bit to prominent.
3. Tvjohn714 - great colors, pose and the fact that this caveman has no hair.

Poojipoo's entry would have certainly be in my top three if he had made the time limit.

3rd Chuck, mate: I liked very much the drawing and enviroment, with one palette color.

1. Chuck,Mate. I adore the face, and the body shape and language totally says "I R neanderthal!" The text and put-out torch are great little additions.
2. monstertree. Good stylizin'. I like the face and legs especially.
3. Tommoy. Nice style and rendering. I wish the face were a little clearer so we could see his expression better.

1: Chuck.Mate: A quality pic as always, the face totally sells the image.

Tommoy -congrats! I loved your entry. (voted 1st place for it infact)
I hope you`ll excuse the paintover, but I thought I`ll *show* you what - in my opinion of course - might do some good to it.

- the whole piece was too dark. the small features and wonderful details got lost. I brightened it and adjusted the contrast.

- I enlarged the eyes, which were a bit small. he`s got powerful communicative eyes, and it`s a shame to lose that funny expression.

- the feet were a bit off, I just warped them a bit to fit the perspective.

- some bouncing lights of the environment were missing - the light from the sky, the ground (under the forearms for example) etc`.
(of course, I pushed those more than needed just to make the point clear...)

that`s about it in a nuttshell.
hope you won`t take it the wrong way, and that you`ll find it helpful.

Chuck,mate, first of all congrats with winning the poll.
Second i think you did a great job with the overpainting, it really looks much better. Specially the bigger eyes give him so much more expression.
So don't worry, overpaintings like this are certainly helpful;)
