This piece needs a lot of work. I have never really done something like this, and I dont know how to even begin creating some good looking ground.

Any feedback you can give would be appreciated, I want to finish this up soon.

My primary areas of conflict at the moment I think are the ground, the background, and not enough over all detail. I am really not sure what kind of detail to add though.

Congrats on the nice texture on the craft and the nice lighting. :D
I think u need to soften the thruster - they look to powerful, like lasers almost.
Also work on the smoke, now the smoke got little tiny glims, like glass almost. I usually look at manga for smoke - they rule at sketching smoke and explosions.
I think U want the smoke to begin to roll. Like it does at the base of nuclear explosions - take a look at some pics of those too.
The ground is not a biggie, I think - a little mmore dark at the bottom, then clean up the fade at the horizon. :)

hey thanks for the feedback. Thats really helpful. I definately had a tone of trouble with the dust cloud, and i tried to make it look like it was rolling out but failed miserably. I am studying a cloud tutorial right now to help me with it.

Thanks for the tips on the ground, I really am terrible when it comes to drawing ground.

I think I will turn the opacity down on the backing layer of blue on the thrusters to correct it. Thanks so much.

interesting design, i like
you might want to consider the shading on the fore section of the ship. the individual nacelles seem a bit flat, so theres not too much depth, apart from that, the texture of the whole thing makes it look wooden, you might want to rework that a bit aswell, making everything abit smoother and clean cut. the aft section is rendered well tho. good work
