Here are a few pencil sketches I made today while watching TV. They're all on scrap copy paper, roughly 8.5x11"

Thanks!

Here's a few more new ones. Approximately the same sizes. The guy and hand are made with a Wolff carbon pencil. Photo references were used.

This was a guy sitting at the bank yesterday. I made a quick sketch of him and finished it up later.

Very nice still life sketches, can't wait to see more. The last piece is amazing, so lifelike.

Thank you, Icedearth15876. I've got a bug in me to do more sketches these days. It's fun!

This young lady was chatting outside the window of a cafe this morning. I want to bring some ink pens with me next time.

Very nice sketches, I like the shading!
I like the sketch of the "guy sitting at the bank" the best (until now, of course :) ).

Good crosshatching, but maybe you should try to draw the line closer to each other. I like how you keep your values simple. Keep it up and post often.

Thanks folks!

Smoothness doesn't appeal to me much. I like it rough. ;) Let lines be lines.

I agree.. for some reason I like the rougher, sketchier lines. I think these are very good considering how difficult it is to draw someone just sitting somewhere. I have a hard time doing it. I like these a lot.

It would be interesting to see some drawings from your imagination, though. :)

You've got a good handle on capturing form with light rather than contour. The recent image of the girl from the cafe window is particularly well done. Keep it up!

Here's a new one, this time in ink. It's from a paused TV screen (Little House on the Prairie, of all things.) I used a light gray marker to lay it out, and then went over it in black. You can see the drawing style is similar to my pencil work. The lines could be straighter and more regularly spaced, but these are sketches after all. Some smooth surfaces need to be softly rendered, like hair, but for the most part I prefer looser lines.

Shadow Stalker, my imagination would probably be too boring, :P but I'll keep that in mind for the future. I sometimes use "created" poses to fill in areas of my finished work, but generally prefer working from references (live or otherwise.)

Here's a couple new ones. They're made with an ink pen from more TV watching.

Couple more from today's doodling... The shoe is with a brush pen on mylar, and the woman is sumi-e ink wash on crappy watercolor paper.

The deer is in pencil, and the other two are made with markers. For the doctor I used a dried out felt marker dipped in sumi-e ink.

Here's a new one using an ink wash. It's based on a black & white magazine photo, @ 7" square.

I'm a huge fan of your hatching, it's so damn lively and expressive! There's not much to crit but one thing I notice is the forearm and how it attaches to the hand in bent positions seems to be staggering in some sketches (looking at this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=376260&stc=1&d=1211677213), this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=371705&stc=1&d=1211145222) and this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=371704&stc=1&d=1211145208)) Some studies on the wrist area would be nice though most of them do seem alright. Anyway, keep this stuff coming, it's really inspiring! :)
