Greetings everyone!
My name is cole. I'm brand new to the the forum and I'm not quite sure how everything works yet, so I thought I would post some pictures and concepts I've been working on for a story me and a few friends have been writing. We hope to eventually make it into a web-comic
anyways...hope you like

Well you got a good start with drawings that come from your head, but the drawings from real life is what's going to help you advance in your skills.
may I also suggest that you scan things at a higher DPI, they are looking a little pixelated. Perhaps you saved it at a lower DPI....hmmm
I like that you are working in more than one medium though, that's always good! :D

Thanks. Thats good advice!
I've been meaning to do some real life sketch studies because it never hurts. I use to a lot, but life is busy lately.
What dpi would you suggest? I may just have a crappy scanner

Well if you are doing a good rendered piece, 300 DPI is good choice. If you ever wanted to take it to the printers for a portfolio or something it would be fine.
For quick studies and such (things you don't care too much about) anything under 200 is fine as long as it's not below 75.

Howdy, and thanks for stopping by my sb.
Im not saying im any better, but even a person that never touched a pencil can look at someones picture and say, mmmm ..thats not quite right :)
So here goes the crit:
-In the picture Ronos2.jpg; his right arm is lifted even though he leads the jump with his right leg. Try it out, and see that the arms would be reversed.
-in young madicar 2.jpg; the momentum of his upper body is towards the left of the picture, but his lower body says that he is standing still. The weight is where the nose is, and standing like that would be verry exhausting :)
-in madicar sketch 2; if you put your left leg up like his is and press the knee downwards as much as his knee is, you will feel the right part of your hip going upwards. As a response to this your upper body will allso lean towards the left. In the picture his back is straight and upright even though his leg says he should be leaning to his left.
Whenever you draw a pose, act it out. Try it, feel it, experience it and understand it.
I think you have a great sense of detail and with time your gonna rock alongside the best in this place.
Long post, sorry :)

Great pictures dude! :D The idea with the web-comic is splendid! That's one way of keeping motivation up!
You should though do some lifestudies, or just work on your shading to make the pictures more living!
Longing for the web-comic! :D keep it up!

Thanks for the crit chalid. I appreciate you explaining it in so much detail, it really helps. I'll try out the poses and see if I can't come up with some more natural looking pics next time around.
