Ive done a little painting in photoshop with no major problems but recently the marks made with the brush tool seem so ugly, and i don't think that its just my eyes. Heres what it looks like:
http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/7898/59655848mx7.jpg

Thats a full quality JPEG
300 P/I
RGB color 8 bit
default brushes

Why are the colors and gradients so damn ugly and why do the brushes look so tacky? I have tried changing all sorts of setting and even tried reinstalling my graphics card drivers but i cant seem to figure out whats wrong.

Please help, i have tried google and searching this site but i cant seem to solve the problem.

Honestly, things look fine to me. Do you happen to have your display set at less than millions of colors?

I'm sorry, they look fine to me. What specifically is so "ugly"? Just the colors of the gradients/ low opacity bits?

It looks like 'smoothing' is off. You could always reinstall Photoshop to be sure.

try playing with the brush settings. turn the spacing down to like 1% or so, see if that's what the problem is .

I'm thinking your asking about something we can't see though. so yeah can't help.

Ah! i think ive solved it. I had my graphics card colour quality set to 16 bit rather than 32 bit and it seems fine now.

Anyway, thanks for the help guys.
